I'm going to take a break tonight and take the wife out to a nice dinner.  If I don't get away from Frank Robinson and his dellusions for at least one night I might have to seek therapy.

I'll tape it...make sure I'm comfortably inebriated then watch it later tonight.

I'm afraid I'll be missing most of tonight's game as well since I'm driving home to spend the weekend with family.  I could probably follow it on the radio for at least the first 3 or 4 innings until I get out of 107.7 FM range, but for the sake of my sanity I think I'm going to take a break as well and just enjoy the drive.

Where's Ortiz' personal apologist, Dave B?

Ok, I'll stand in for a minute.  If Ortiz fields that little chopper to his glove hand, it's a 3 up, 3 down inning.  More bad luck/baseball from Ortiz.  Not bad pitching that inning at all, except for the walk really.

First inning recap:

Top of 1st:  Vidro swings and misses at ball four, so instead of Byrd advancing to 2nd automatically he gets thrown out stealing.  Nice way to run ourselves out of an inning.

Bottom of 1st:  Ortiz can't field his position so Renteria gets an infield hit and thus opens the floodgates.  At one point after Andruw Jones walks the TV announcer (Carpenter) comments. "Nationals pitchers have retired 1 of the last 9 batters they have faced."

Getting behing Chipper 3-1 and Andrum 3-0 is not good pitching in my book.  I agree though, if he could field his position it would still be 0-0.

You're right of course.  I am just expanding the definition of good pitching a bit, so we can have some.

thanks for holding down the fort.  even so. chipper hits a dp ball to vacated SS because of hit and run.  looping single by mcann on low pitch he yanked off the end of the bat. weak grounders to end the inning. nothing hit hard

Kasten is supposed to be hosting the Lerners for this series, and is expected to be with Bowden.  If I were Bowden, I would have done anything to avoid starting Ortiz in this series.  Right now, Ortiz is kind of like the iceburg lookout on the Titanic.  He can seal both their fates, along with Frank's...

that masn commercial shows nobody from the current nationals except for one highlight. the one where guzman chases the guy.  it has to be intentional.  jamey carroll, rick short, vinny, wilkerson, bennet, loaiza.  i dont know what the motive for it is other than to just be a dick

He is his own worst enemy.  God knows this team isn't good enough to overcome these gaffes.

Does anyone know where Kasten and the Lerners are sitting?  The MASN announcers mentioned that Kasten popped into the booth.  I am hoping that they're in a box with the MASN broadcast playing.  Because these announcers have really been RIPPING the Nationals defensive errors, Guillen's hitting ineptness and Ortiz' problems, as if they are trying to influence Kasten and the Lerners into fixing things.  They sound more like people on this board than typical homer announcers.  No sugar coating.
