This is the loss where you say there was a lot of great pitching and the other guys won. Boy did Martin look good. The Sox were so freaking mad everytime he struck them out with 88mph fastballs. Good for him. He must like the major league drycleaning or something. If you are gonna be at a loss, go to a 107 pitch Peavy complete game shutout which Ozzy managed really well.

you think so?  I was kind of surprised Ozzy didn't go to his pen in the 9th given the pitchers he's got, and the fact that Peavy was dealing with shoulder issues and was over 100 pitches.  I was also surprised he let Peavy bat in the 9th (I think he came up in the 9th, might have been in the 8th.)

Managed well as in they won. What do I care about their rotation down the road when they don't play the nats again for years. His bullpen is all fresh now.

yeah they won, but I'm not sure i'd agree he managed it well.  I was really surprised he didn't go to Putz or Jenks to close it out or pinch-hit for Peavy in a 1-0 game.  He's definitely not an NL manager.

Riggs was the man on that Nyjer BS out call. Steam was coming out of his ears. He ignored my plea to kick dirt on the lousy ump.

Zim struck out like a fool and pouted like a baby. I was so steamed.

After the strike out looking to end the 7th (might have been the 6th), he threw down his helmet, bat and batting gloves and just walked to third looking extremely pissed off.  Desmond brought out his glove and hat.

Looking at 3 called strike threes is simple unacceptable for a guy you are counting on to spark the offense.

Arguing about balls and strikes and inconsistent calls between the teams apparently.

Got a standing O from the crowd as he left according to the radio guys

it wasn't obvious he was ejected, they never announced it.  But everyone did cheer when he went nose to nose with the home plate umpire.

I watched the game until about the 5th or 6th inning and then went to the pool.  I heard the game was still 1 to 0 in the 9th, came home and watched the 9th inning (I taped the game) and kept praying, we scored.  No such luck.  I showered and sulked.  I'm still sulking.

the highlight being there was taking a few pictures of Strasburg on the bench (and Ben's chili bowl)

Pit turkey with chutney is always good.

A warm welcome back to the 300 level yesterday for Pilsner Urquell, available on draught (nicely chilled too, unlike many draughts on that level) from the first of the Base Line Brew bars you see to your left as you come off the Left Field Gate escalator, behind roughly 302. That crisp hop flavour really goes down nicely on a beastly hot afternoon.

It's way better than that sounds, they slice up the turkey with an electric slicer to order and the fruit is pretty tasy, and the bread is nice. The shrimp po boy sucks though. I mean, it's as bad as you would guess, I just wanted fried shrimp.

No, PA, I'd still like to think some bats were broken, chairs were thrown and nobody said a word after the loss.
