He's sticking around then. Riggs is starting to trust him. Nice.

This guy can pitch. I've always said that. He's a real prospect. Stammen can't cut it.

I concur.  Atilano STAYS. Stammen...say HI to Syracuse.

Ernie is a good poster than needs to use the quote function a bit more

I am SO IMPRESSED with Atilano.  This is the 2nd best performance by a Nationals starter, this year.

Really?

Olsen's almost no-hitter
Olsen's 7 K afternoon game
Livan's CG shutout

Olsen had some monster starts. We need him back badly.

Ok, 3rd best.  It's better than a 7 K game.  the Olsen almost no-hitter was #1.

For working an 0-2 count to 3-2, putting a good pitch into play, and hustling despite breaking his bat to ensure the run would count.

It's all in his head.  He's got the tools and has selective grittyness.

Stammen get's one more chance tomorrow which will be a big challenge for him.  Otherwise, I think it'll be Martin who goes down.

7.1 of no hit pitching is not exactly "almost no-hitter". Ramon Ortiz performance qualifies as an almost no hitter but I don't believe Olsen's does. He ended up yielding 2 hits and 2 ER.

I'll give you the battling part, that was good, but he still popped out to first baseman and got a little lucky.

Results matter. and Martin has better results. Martin needs to learn to let errors go, however.

Martin's two starts:

11.2 IP
9 K: 1 BB
12 H
3 ER

4.44 ERA last year in 15 starts

I don't know, I'd like to see what Martin can do with a couple more starts.

I hope we don't see Mike Leake again, in Cincinnati.  :?

...but we probably will.

Eh, whatever. He was 5 outs away.

Meh, there was a reason he was in AAA and Stammen wasn't.  I don't know there's that much difference between the two.  It's Martin's turn in the rotation, isn't it?  I think he goes.

if stammen is horrendus tomorrow he'll be sent down.  but if he throws pretty decent, they could send martin down and then send down stammen down (or to the pen) when olsen is back.

Anybody else just see Fatass West giving Nieves the condescending two-finger "come on let's go" wag? :?

Tyler Walker is very replaceable in the bullpen.
