So, according to the team's release, the MRI today on Ryan Zimmerman's left shoulder revealed a small labral tear. Team orthopedist Ben Shaffer is recommending rest and anti-inflammatories. Three more doctors -- including James Andrews -- will examine the rest results and make a recommendation on the next step. What does it all mean?* Zimmerman is going on the DL, retroactive to May 26.* The Nationals will call up Kory Casto from Columbus* It's still too early to tell if Zimmerman will be out for days or weeks. Or more. That's why the evaluations of Andrews et al will be critical. "I've had players who've had the same injury who took 10 days off, then played for five years," Jim Bowden said. "Then I've had some who've been operated on. It can be anywhere in between, and we just don't know yet."* The injury list grows. Washington's DL is far more formidable than its lineup. You've got injuries to Nick Johnson, Austin Kearns, Ronnie Belliard, Chad Cordero, Paul Lo Duca, etc. That was the nucleus of the team just a few weeks ago.
I wonder if he'll be the starting third baseman or the starting left fielder?
Either one would be fine with me. I definitely want him to get a shot at starting though. It'd be hell if he rotted on the bench in favor of someone like Pena.
I'll be paying close attention to how Manny handles this.
Boone will start. Casto will sit on his ass and not have any chance to succeed and then they'll send him down. i.e. Schroder,Sanches,Manning,Langerhans etc...etc...
Sanches and Manning have been pitching a lot.
I'd like to see Casto start at third and Boone moved to first and have Young sit his ass on the bench. Though I doubt that will happen.
We should rotate them until we find something that works.
That would be dumb if they did that. Boone is a solid guy off the bench but he is not starting caliber at this point in his career. Give Casto a chance. He's only 26. Let's see what he can do.
I have to agree. Quick get him into a game before Lenny screws him up.
That would work for me. We really need NJ back badly. Boone has been terrible lately but we have no choice but to start either him or Dmitri (or even both).
Beheading Lenny Harris would be a start.
Are we still allowed to do that? Isn't that "cruel and unusual punishment"?But in this case maybe they will allow the punishment to fit the crime.
By the way you dont call up a guy who is batting 300 to sit him over a bunch of 100 hitters... i guarantee he starts over Boone at third for the first few days
Langerhans is starting now?
