:lmao:

1st base. Stanton won't get traded for a couple of years, until he gets expensive.
That's an interesting and good option. LaRoche would be done.

Stanton is going to be expensive next year as he's arby eligible.  The beat writers feel he's gone by non-waiver deadline.

Werth's wrist is still not fully healed; could take 24 months.  Loria should give Stanton to the Nationals for virtually nothing, to make up for destroying this franchise when it was still in Montreal.

Have a decent peanut vendor?  DEAL!

FWIW: What is now the Nationals franchise is the same franchise that won the '97 World Series.  When Loria took over the Marlins, the old Marlins and old Expos franchises swapped locations and players.  The legal name of the franchise that won the '03 World Series was Montreal Expos, L.P.

Then, as if it isn't enough that David Samson, an inept attorney and team president, was late with the name change, he totally screwed up the name change from Florida Marlins, L.P. to Miami Marlins, L.P. and had to refile.

Also, since Walter Johnson's stats show up under the Minnesota Twins as that is the same franchise for which he played, I'd love to see the Nats come down and walk out with the '97 World Series trophy, making Loria the only owner to cause his team to forfeit a World Series.  Then, the Nationals need to hold a Championship Parade in downtown Miami, circling the new stadium just to emphasize what a disaster Loria has been to baseball.

The Phillies could throw their ballpark in with their entire farm system and the friggin' Liberty Bell, and they wouldn't have the assets to trade for Stanton.

If he stays at Miami for the full season, he will lead the majors in intentional walks...book it.

You're forgetting the Beinfest factor.  Marlins don't trade, they give away and then take out your trash for you.

Nah. I don't like the underlying deceit/loser's mentality surrounding that Toronto deal, but when you acknowledge that Reyes+Buck+Buerhle+their contracts basically have little to no trade value, then Beinfest basically got a pretty decent haul for Johnson+Bonifacio, including two top-100 prospects and other pieces.

Beinfest knows exactly what kind of value he has in Stanton. If he didn't, Stanton already would have been traded for something that was (a) below market value, and (b) still way more than anything the Phillies could offer. Something like Jurickson Profar and Mike Olt or something.

I don't feel sorry for him, but I can understand how much it sucks to work in an environment like that.

We should trade for him :D

Exactly. Stanton already loves to hit in DC. Can you imagine if he heard that chant at the park? He'd demand a trade to DC. Would be epic.

i figured he'd get IW'd in every ST at-bat just so pitchers could get ready for the regular season.

Yes, let's chant for a Marlin at our home opener. You guys have all gone full MDS. When is the off-season over?
