Some terrible pitchers we have had over the years: Winston Abreu, Mike O'Connor, Mike Hinckley, Arnie Munoz, Tim Redding :spaz:

I can't stand all this winning by the Nats. I'm used to the loser Nats. I loved that era. This is the thread for all of us to wax poetic about the great Nationals players of the past that allowed to draft the great Strasburg, Harper, and other high round picks.

Day looks like a little leaguer.    Nevermind, he was.

Didn't Tony Bautista and Nook "the Crook" Logan man LF at numerous times?

Marlon Anderson maybe?

And yes, I remember Rob Mackowiak. God this team was bad back then.

Actually quite the opposite for me.  This makes me appreciate so much more what is happening right now with this team.  Yes I currently have anxiety waiting for the bubble to burst, but I've never felt like this since the Baltimore Orioles...  wait scratch that, I've never felt like this.

Without looking it up, could anyone here name the franchise's first opening day lead-off hitter?

I had no idea.

The guy who was a career minor leaguer and was brought up for one game and had a hit and was given a standing ovation. Went on to play in Japan. Was his name Short?

Rick Short. He hit like .400 in AAA. I still blame JimBo and Frank Robinson for not using him more. The team had a garbage offense and they did nothing to fix it.
