Is it possible for an upvote feature to be added?

I've been on some sites that have an upvote/downvote system and the downvotes tend to take away from the site.  The upvotes however reward the intelligent posts and could make it a little easier to follow some opinions on the board.

Upvotes reward popular opinions, not intelligent posts.

Depends on who's voting.

Chief, mods would get unlimited votes, right?    :mg:

I've seen "reputation" points for posters on other forums but not an upvote/downvote system... I can't imagine it working in a forum context :| just block someone if you don't like their posts. And reply to them with a +1 if you do and you have nothing to add.

There should be a reputation system just for game day threads.

What's wrong with calling somebody a dumbfreak when they post something stupid?

Downvotes would be good, enough of them and it gets deleted.

I've considered this idea in the past, and will most likely revisit the possibility during my usual winter tinkering, but as I lack the expertise to implement something like this from the ground up, I'd need to find an SMF mod package that implemented it in a way that fits this forum appropriately.

In short, it's on the radar, but don't hold your breath.

Regarding upvotes...  something to keep in mind is that your posts are "upvotes" of a sort.  More popular threads will always stay on the first page, less popular threads fall into the void.
