Not to be outdone, Texas' own first-team preseason All-American, Jr. RHP Taylor Jungmann also threw an opening day shutout, using just 95 pitches to strike out nine while giving up just five hits and a walk in an 8-0 win against Maryland. I heard a second-hand report that Jungmann's velocity has been up this spring—that he's touched the high 90s. Seems he's in midseason form already.
First-team preseason All-American Jackie Bradley Jr. (4-for-4, 3 R, 2 2B, HR, 3 RBI) picked up where he left off in the College World Series, where he was the Most Outstanding Player. Bradley helped power defending national champion South Carolina to a 12-5 win against Santa Clara.
Jungmann is definitely one to watch. Kid's been on my radar since the playoffs last year against Rice, when a friend at the game texted me asking what I knew about him, saying he was "f*cking scary good." Sounds like JBJ didn't miss a beat.
