They need to rename them immediately. Dave B suggested the "Brooklyn Beards", which I think is brilliant. Rolls off the tongue more readily than "skinny jeans", "janitor keys", or "messenger bikes".[...]
Today's TSN.ca NHL front-page poll (
http://www.tsn.ca/nhl/) asks people whether they think the Islanders should change their name - right now a tight race with 50.8% in favour and 49.1% against (6222 responses thus far).
No real strong feeling either way myself but I really see nothing wrong with them remaining Islanders - I mean if Utah's NBA team can still be the Jazz 33 years after leaving New Orleans, or the Lakers can still be Lakers 52 years after they left Minneapolis...or a bit closer to home, if Phoenx's NHL franchise can still be Coyotes ('coyote', besides being a type of wild dog indigenous to that part of the USA, is also rather a negative word denoting a labour trafficker)....
