SI is reporting a 3 team deal.

Trading Lee for Halladay may be the worst trade in the history of baseball (well, not Glenn Davis bad, but up there).

Quote
3:17pm: In an article, Heyman notes that Halladay's extension "is expected to be a formality." He appears certain that an agreement has been reached on a Phillies/Jays/Mariners deal that will net the Phils Halladay.  Lee's agent Darek Braunecker hasn't heard anything, tweets Tyler Kepner of the New York Times.

2:56pm: Heyman tweets that a three-way deal has been agreed to with Halladay going to the Phillies and Lee to the Mariners.  The Phillies are now trying to sign Halladay to an extension.  However, in a subsequent tweet, Heyman apologizes for a quick trigger finger and says that while the Ms are confirmed as the third team he is checking to verify they'll get Lee.  And MLB.com's Noah Coslov has no confirmed deal from Lee or the Ms.

So Heyman may have jumped the gun - no confirmation that Lee is part of the deal yet.

If it's true that Philly is giving up Lee and Michael Taylor for Halladay, that would seem to be a pretty dumb move. However, they may want to sign Halladay longterm, and Lee could want to test the market.

They are definitely signing Halladay long term. Sucks for us but there is a chance he could start to break down soon so that would be good.

M's give up Aumont

Rosenthal and Morosi agree:

Halladay -> Phillies
Lee -> Mariners
Aumont, Taylor -> Jays

I'm sure there are 2-3 more players heading to Toronto. The most obvious winner is the Mariners. They are officially beasts.

Damn, why couldn't we get Jack Z? He takes over a 100 loss team and one year later, they're at least even money to win their division.

(I know the M's have/had way  more talent than the Nats....but still.)

That's a pretty big part of the equation...

Big win for the M's.  Aumont was just a reliever.

Didn't they ask Lee to extend and he said no? If so, the trade makes a lot of sense.

jays are probably the biggest losers. taylor is good, but hopefully they got more. preferably like ryan howard and chase utley.

Depending on the money/length Doc wants, philly could be the long term losers here

only thing is, if cliff lee doesnt resign with the Ms, they're kinda screwed (actually depends on the prospects they're giving up). i'd say:

philly - A-
seattle - B if they dont resign, A+ if they do
toronto - C+

Apparently Drabek is part of the deal now instead of Brown. Along with JA Happ and Joe Blanton. If the Phillies give up Drabek, Blanton, Happ and Lee and only get Halladay back Amaro should be fired on the spot.

How can Seattle possibly be in position to make a deal like this?  This makes no sense at all!

That's insanity. Halladay for Lee straight up would be dumb.

Still a terrible terrible trade. 1 premier starter, 1 premier prospect, and a good starter for a premier starter and a prospect. So dumb.

Per the four letter network in Connecticut it looks like the latest idea is:

Jays:  Michael Taylor, Travis d'Arnaud, Kyle Drabek
Phillies:  Roy Halladay (extension through 2013 with vesting options for '14 & '15), Phillipe Aumont, Tyson Gillies
Mariners:  Cliff Lee

At least, that's what it looks like now.

why halladay instead of lee for the Phillies?  Count the LH starters they still have - Hamels, Happ, Moyer.  Halladay balances the rotation better.  While he has pitched a lot more in the majors than Lee, he is only a year older.  Lee wants a bigger contract to resign after next year.  makes a lot of sense for Philadelphia.

Getting Aumont allowed them to put Drabek in the deal. I don't know enough about gillies to figure out how much he makes the deal worthwhile.

Seems to me Seattle is really gambling hard this year. They probably think the Angels are vulnerable without Lackey and Figgins.

The Jays flipped Taylor to Oakland for Brett Wallace now.

they probably think the can win the al west next year- between lackey leaving and a top two of Hernandez and Lee, they may be right
