Little apprehensive about this opening game.  The Braves are right behind us, breathing on our necks.  Our guys have to be tired after that disappointing loss yesterday despite coming back from a huge deficit.  And Detwiler hasn't shown he can necessarily last more than about 5 innings.  Our bullpen got a workout in the Rockies' series although Clippard should be ready .  Another factor is the heat - very high temperatures are expected.  The good news is for games two and three we have Strasburg and Gio.

The big question - has our offense improved or was that a fluke in the Colorado air?

I like the pitching matchups all three games. Let's sweep them and their stupid chants. :whip:

More of a factor, the quality of Colorado's pitching.

I agree with most of what has been said so far. WE NEED this series. Snotlanta is only 3.5 games behind us. Blowing all 3 games is NOT an option. I think I said here, before the Rockies series, that we should get at least 2/3 from this one. Sadly I was on track with 2/2 from CO we should have had at least 3 of those 4. UGH.

Snotlanta has been making too much noise lately.

I'll be at this game tonight.  Left Field front row, with the red Winning shirt and the beer fist.  Dig it

That's Davey for you. He doesn't like subs to rot on the bench. That's why Lombo is in there.

I like it. It takes all 25, baby.

But why does he have to take (arguably) his hottest bat out to play a struggling Lombo?  Why not sit Danny, who himself is struggling, and hasn't had a day off as recently as Moore has?

Danny is a regular. Moore is not (yet, anyway). Davey would say he's "trying to get Danny going."

Basically, I think Davey has a Lombo / Moore platoon.  The Colorado series was freaky with 4 lefty starters in a row.  I think that there will be times when Danny, Desi, and RZ sit and Moore plays v. righties, but for the first game started by a righty against us, I think he is giving Moore at least the first night off.

Three nights of fireworks after Braves games this week.  Only one at Nats Park.  Freaking anti-American ownership group.
