And for good reason - exercise bikes are the WORST piece of exercise equipment ever made. I'm not talking about spin bikes or the Tour de France bikes (that thing is bad ass) I'm talking about your run of the mill exercise bike - STAY AWAY. Better yet - BUY AN ACTUAL BIKE AND GET OUTSIDE AND ENJOY THE OUTDOORS. And before anyone, other than folks with knee or hip replacements, says "I can't do it" - I'm doing 20-25 miles tonight after I hit the gym for 90 minutes of weight train and my current weight is 400lbs.
I'm doing about 15 miles a day 4 times per week - and I've had a quadruple bypass. So, get out there - but get your Doctor's permission first if you have medical issues...
Obviously you don't want to just jump into something your body can't handle but I think people get caught up on buying "gym equipment" that end up being junk receptacles.

Time is money after allBut 1 mile? Really??
According to google maps, my drive to work is 1.0 mile and 5 minutes. If I click on the "bike" directions, it's 6 minutes. Too bad I'm fat, lazy, and poor.
I don't think a $90 wal-mart crapbox will support my weight
Is walking not an option?
Blue - you're such a heathen for even considering such a task
For a 1 mile ride, you don't even really need a good bike.
Legitimate question. Where Nathan lives it may be a mile by interstate or some such crap. or bears or mega-piranha or god knows what the freak lives out there.
It's small roads and back roads. But I wouldn't want to walk because it is wilderness-y (yeah we do have bears) plus I work at night. Not too keen on walking through that area at midnight. I highly doubt I'd ever come across a bear, but skunks are everywhere too
