I had to laugh at the description of Manziel by the policeman.  "eyes were red, bloodshot, and glassy, and his speech was slurred" as well as the mention of the odor of alcohol is in every police report on a DUI or other arrest involving drinking.   Almost word for word, as if the officers have been trained to include that in their affidavits and testimony.   When I clerked for a court, in one appeal the judges commented on the record for alcohol being involved in the incident (despite abundant evidence otherwise) by noting the testimony included the rote recitation of these factors as providing a basis for the officer's opinion.

that said, underage drinking, fake ID, and trying to deescalate a confrontation caused by his friend's racist remark is the gist of this.  When has a drunk minor ever successfully deescalated a fight instead of ending up in one?

Sorry, but the phrase "testilying" comes to mind sometimes.

I have a personal feud with Mike Barnicle over a story that was planted by a detective / source of his who did not like my judge's opinion calling his source out for the numerous cases he got away with "harmless error" in his testimony.  BTW - my judge and the panel affirmed the conviction based on other witnesses solid ID'ng of the perp despite the detective's attempt to introduce prior bad act testimony (a violation of the rules of evidence).

There's even more to this story, but it takes us too far from football.

What an ending to the Georgia/Alabama game.

Tough to be that WR. You're taught to catch everything... so it's near impossible to purposely drop it, there.

GA/AL   Nice   ...

BTW   I think it was AL/ND on New Years' Eve '73?    Watched the game at the Lehi Bar and Grill in G'town.

Surprised he didn't spike it and let the coach call a play. Unclutch.

That website is a terrible site

Still, Petersen is in play according to sources on both sides.

My opinion? Petersen isn't coming. He probably will bargain for higher assistant salaries and better facilities.

Doubt Arkansas has a head coach before Tuesday or Wednesday but I would love to be wrong.

To add on;

The hire is good for Arkansas. The salary is relatively low. He is an excellent coach. Three straight Rose Bowls is three straight Rose Bowls. He is defensive minded and his offenses pound the rock. He'll inherit a program gifted in skill position talent and set at the QB position for the next 4 or 5 seasons, so he'll have an offense that can still move the ball while he transitions his personnel to a bigger, more physical group. We have every reason to believe he can hire a good staff. His tendency to recruit Florida hard is a good sign when you realize Arkansas has developed bases in the Dallas metro area and eastern Oklahoma to supplement our instate talent. Above all, as a coordinator and head coach he has won everywhere he's been.

I think it makes a little sense why he came. I am surprised he was looking to leave Wisconsin, but I'm not shocked he came to Arkansas. It's the SEC. It's a program that two years ago was arguably the third best team in the nation. Jeff Long has assembled a deep financial war chest. We'll let him hire an all star staff. The facilities are excellent. We are currently constructing a $40+ million football ops center and the corresponding practice fields that should be finished in spring. The football stadium in the next two or three years will be expanded to 80,000+ seats. Arkansas is a program that wants and is setting itself up to play ball with Alabama and LSU, all that is needed is a good coach.

Arkansas is a good job in the best conference of college football. It's an exciting opportunity for any coach.

Very excited about the future of Arkansas football.

After his press conference, Bielema made it clear that two of the biggest factors for the move were his funding and the SEC. The SEC is obvious. Funding is a credit to the Arkansas administration. The facilities, which were regarded as above average a few years ago and will be A+ in about 6 months and his budget for recruiting and assistants will be as big as he realistically needs.

Big day for Arkansas.

Damn right we fired him.

Even after this season, I would do it again. This institution is bigger than just football.

So did Rich Rodriquez when he went to Michigan.   So did Saban when he went everywhere he went.   Hold on Smithian.    He may not be who you think he is.

People told me same thing about Petrino. Before he went ultra narcissistic and hired his mistress, things went well.

We'll see in a few years. Anything can happen.
