When you start getting up into that kind of mileage you need to start being really proactive about chain maintenance or the whole drivetrain becomes a $hitshow. Back in 2001-2008 I was riding 8,000+ miles a year, and even using Wippermann stainless chains with White lightning lube after every ride I was getting pretty significant chain stretch every few months.
