They showed a stat that since may 22nd he had a 0.62 era. Led the majors. Not sure what last night put it up too.

204 IP, 3.52 ERA pace. And you guys are telling me he is a bum. This is why I don't listen to the panic monkeys here. John Lannan is fine and always has been fine. Solid and steady contributor for years to come.

Lannan has certainly straightened himself out lately.

Ha.

Well, the general discussion board seems to be a lot quieter when the Nats are winning.  Might as well start yelling at clouds.

The game day threads seem to be the opposite, where winning = more discussion.

But on topic, Lannan has been awesome.  He still looks ridiculous at the plate and he probably knows it - but even there he managed to draw a walk last night.

He's solid in the back of the rotation and under team control for a couple of more years (ie cheap!).  If we ever get enough pitching in here where we have 5 guys better than him, he'll bring back some solid pieces in a trade.  But we're not even close to that point yet.

You all know my opinion here.  I don't think I'm going to change anyone's mind or anyone is likely to change my mind, so this is probably the last post I make in this thread until the end of the season.  In the meantime, let's just enjoy the fact that Lannan and the rest of our starting pitching has been really good.

I'm more impressed with his mindset. He really does not appear to be over thinking his pitches like he had a tendency to do in the past...I think the stellar defense has made his pitching improve by leaps and bounds.

Anyone have stats as to how Lannan pitches in regards to who is catching him? I'm just curious.

There is a difference in the ratio here but it looks like he is slightly better with Ramos catching him even though the ERA is lower with Pudge. There is a pretty big power difference and he has a better K/BB ratio with Ramos. All in all it doesn't look like a huge difference and it all might even out if Pudge caught him as much as Ramos has caught him.

Yup. Same here. Just was interested in seeing what the numbers were. I guess I could have done that myself, but in my line of work, I'm used to getting other people to do everything for me

Also the opponent and venue. Catching Lannan in SF isn't the same as in Philly.

It's not like anyone made any specific assertions about the numbers

I know, you were just posting the numbers, I was just saying that (not necessarily in response to you).

It was a nice game, not perfect, but nice. John is putting together a nice little season heading to arbitration next year.
