How do you win a game with Scott Hairston at cleanup? They put Gonzalez third so he can get an extra AB once in a while because the rest of the position players blow.

Their lineup is so unbelievably bad yet they are 14 games over .500. Shows how important pitching/defense is which we lack.

Gonzalez finished last night a triple short of the cycle.

I personally am hoping for an evening where I can sit in my puddle of sweat, watch the Nats take a 3 run lead and never lose it.....these ninth innings are getting a bit intense for this old man

Go Nats!

Their lineup is truly aweful, but when you can pitch, throw, and catch then you usually don't beat yourselves. Pretty ironic that we have a chance to sweep teams like the Padres but struggle against bottom feeders.

I'm calling a QS from Atilano tonight with this garbage time lineup. Nats win 5-2.

I am a big fan of Everth Cabrera.  He's coming back from injury, so it'll take some more time, but once he gets in a groove he's going to be a good player for them.  Last year was his first year in the bigs (rule 5), before that season he had never played above A ball.

I don't think he'll ever be a great hitter, but serviceable and when he gets on base watch out.

Bad teams can score runs and then give them back. The Nats sometimes score runs, the Padres don't, I think it's just a good matchup.  Nats took 2 of 3 earlier in the season, right?

I thought the tight-asses at Nats park didn't allow stuff like that?

I have $20 in my wallet...I figure from bethesda taking the metro will cost me about 7 or 8 dollars....think i can score a ticket for just $10.  I forgot my credit cards and atm card.

I'd use the metro trip planner before you go. Fares have skyrocketed. Might be cheaper to get off at union station and pay a dollar for the Circulator bus.

Are we sure that it Rodriguez catching tonight because he'd BETTER be catching tomorrow and that would be four games in a row, wouldn't it?

But Riggleman is so excited to have Wil Freaking Nieves catch for him

Bring back LeCroy and Osik and Gary Bennett while you are at it

Walk Gonzalez or this won't be the night we don't give up any runs in the first inning.

Smart to put Headley in front of Gonzalez so that they other guy on the team that can hit can be driven in sometimes.

Garland started off yesterday like this. Atilano has nothing. About ready to shut the game off.
