wow Mattheus, what an epic inning I'm out. off to go see Planet of the Apes, have a good night.
Yep- Desmond always gets bashed for his average, but it's higher than Werth or Espinosa - Morse and Zimmerman are the only guys who can hit ( with the occasional nix thrown in)
This is planet of the rodents
Desmond gets bashed for his batting average because it's terrible and he provides literally nothing else--almost no power, almost no walks. He's one of the worst hitters in the NL. Comparing him to Espinosa or even Werth is ridiculous.
Espo has fallen off the face of the earth. He was a solid contender for ROY at the All-star break. Now...I don't think he's in the top 3.
They all suck- OBP only matters if someone can drive you in
Based on what? A bad two weeks? You're right, hitting in the eighth spot the few times Desmond does get on base it's unlikely he'll get to home plate.
He still has the most WAR of any rookie--i.e., he has provided the most value to his team of any rookie. So yes, I think he is still a contender. People on this forum have short memories.
So do the Rockies have Grimace as a mascot?
