which players do you wish the nats would leave in detroit?
Nieves, Martin, Batista, Atilano, Guzman.

Lannan's earned a longer leash, and I think Kennedy will be better than Guzman once he gets to play regularly

I agree with the first four.  Guzman has been in a slump, but I still think he's a valuable player.

I'm glad they are coming back to DC. This team is totally different at home.

Something has to be done after this series.  The evidence is too clear, now.

I wish we had prospects who are close to the majors.

I'd like to see our total offensive numbers in games in which Nieves started vs. games in which Pudge started.

167 runs in 38 games started by Pudge (4.39 R/G) - slightly below lgavg 4.41 between SFG (4.34) and STL (4.45)

97 runs in 25 games started by Nieves (3.88 R/G) - 3rd worst in lg between HOU (3.42) and SDP (4.12)

You're the best. I KNEW Wil "Buzzkill" Nieves was more than just an automatic out. He kills our offense!

lol, is Riggleman turning into Acta? We hit the ball better than they did today? What reality are you currently on, Jim?

Well in the category of "Who hit the ball harder" Id say we won.... but in the category of "Who actually got hits" They won... as you can tell.

I realize that is what he was trying to say. But anytime you're outhit 19 to 8, a few "might have been HRs in another park" doesn't really merit the manager saying the team hit the ball better than the team that got nearly 2.5x as many hits.

I'm not disagreeing with you. I hate when we try to look for a positive in something that we can't be excited about. Who cares if we hit the ball hard enough. Get base hits. Enough said. (I would usually agree with Riggleman on hard hit balls like that but if we've been doing it all game and couldn't figure it out, thats our fault)

What's the difference?  Even if they put up 6 runs, we still lose.  When we are losing games 2-0 and 3-1, then I'll complain about the offense.  Until then it's really moot every 3/5 games.

I agree. I blame our pitching for our losses these past weeks. It still sucks, though, when your offense can barely put up 3 when we are trailing big. I don't expect us to come back from deficits like today but Id like to see our offense cash in on scoring opportunities.

eh, i understand riggleman's point.  he even said as "crazy it sounds", but if you watched the game, they had a lot of long fly balls that are homers in most parks.  and credit the tigers defense for making nice plays.

i think our offense is fine.  the road trip proved our rotation is hurting.

Definitely.  Under Acta, it'd be all: "Eh, it's okay, not like anything really bad happened." :hang:

Boesch's catch of Bernadina probably saved the game.  Guzman easily scores and Bernadina might have had an inside the parker if he doesn't catch and it's a whole different game.
