WNFF 2.0 thread
« Topic Start: September 09, 2011, 05:32:18 PM »
I swear the text seems a little bit different along with there being more space between new topics, posts, etc.

Right?  :-[

It's KRAAZY good. Blue background behind the red bars, the Online/offline tags look different, and the biggest clue, SMF 2.0 copyright 2011. Well done Chief

Since some people have already commented on it, I am setting up this thread for discussion of the new forum upgrade.  Feel free to post any new features/options you discover.  I will add them all to this post for quick reference.

Things I've noticed so far:

-"Ignore Boards" in profile settings
-"unread" on each forum section (Nationals/Community/Archives)
-font face/size/color dropdowns in the post form
-"mark unread", "edit", and "go to full version" on the mobile site
-misc. text and font changes
-"show posts" in profile now has "topics" and "attachments" settings so you can see all topics started by a user or attachments submitted by them.
-"who's online" mixes members and guests, but has a dropdown option to only show one or the other

Also:

A new 2.0 theme to go with is planned for the near future.  I'll probably make the un-skinned version available for everyone to check out soon.

I upgraded the forum to the latest release of SMF - 2.0.  A lot of the changes are things only I and the mods will notice, but there are also user-facing changes.  I have created a discussion thread:

Blue background behind the red bars

I'm guessing that's a result of stale cache files, it should look pretty much like it did before.  Try CTRL-F5.

Well done Chief

There's just a far more professional look and feel to it. It's really impressive.

The buddy list is super nice too.

That feature isn't new, but I think I disabled it in 1.1 after I determined that it does almost nothing at all.

If you can tell me something useful it does, I'll recant that statement

Well, it makes the online/online indicators look stupid :P

Also, the post/preview buttons on quick reply are on te right instead of center.

Well lucky for you it's intermingled with 2.0's built-in "ignore user" function, so I pretty much have to leave it enabled now :P

Not a big deal but one thing I noticed is that when you go into the area that tells you what board or thread everyone is reading the new version mixes the members with the guests. The previous version had them listed separately.

Yeah, I'm not a huge fan of that either, but if you look to the side there is a dropdown that lets you select only members or only guests.  It remembers whatever setting you choose.

"show posts" in profile now has "topics" and "attachments" tabs so you can see all topics started by a user or attachments submitted by them.

You can also sort by the "user" header to make all users come first, then all guests (or vice-versa).  It appears to remember this as well.
