Doesn't have a ton of projection left? Sits low 90s touching mid, seems like enough for a starter

Latest from KLaw:

Washington NationalsMichael Wacha, RHP, Texas A&MThey represent a floor of sorts for Dahl and Giolito, at the least, with Stroman a very remote possibility. There's also been a crazy rumor that they would take Miami senior catcher/first baseman Pete O'Brien, try to sign him well under slot, and shift the money to later picks.

Have at it, LAC's

Wacha sounds like a decent pick. Good size, above average velocity and a great changeup but he has no breaking ball.

If they take Marrero that would suck so much. He doesn't even have the potential of a Desmond/Espinosa.

For the record, if Giolito falls to them at 16 I jump on his talent in a heartbeat even with the question marks.

We don't have enough money in our allocated draft budget to sign him unless he just really really like the Nats. Dude was rumored to be a top 3-5 pick so he must be expecting around 4 million. We have a total budget of 4,436,000.

then again, taking a $2 million hit gets his pro career started 2 years earlier

Yeah that kind of dims our chances of getting him. So stupid.

The more I hear about Stroman the more I like it. Sounds like a Chris Sale/Drew Storen type with the stuff to pitch in the pen right away but also stuff to start if they choose.

Quote
Dan (Medfield, MA): Other than his height, is there any other factors that have teams souring on Strohman? Bonus demands?

Conor Glassey: No, I think it's just the height. Teams love the stuff, love the kid, but it just seems like a lot of teams love him, but not a lot want to be the one putting their job on the line for a 5-foot-9 righthander. Somebody's going to get a steal.

Quote
Ron (Dayton, OH): What are you hearing on the Reds? If you picked Stroman would you make him a RP or SP. I hope the Reds make him a SP if they take him.

Conor Glassey: I think the Reds will go with a college player. And they're one of the teams who shouldn't worry too much about Stroman's height because of Cueto and Leake. Stroman could help a team's bullpen in a hurry, but he could also start. Shows 3 plus pitches, great athleticism and holds his velocity deep in games.

I like Hawkins, Sheffer, Dohl, and of course Giolito. Marrero would be solid in the second - no idea why he's a first round pick though. Stroman sounds awesome too. hope for us sub-6' guys haha

So would the Nats pass on Giolito if he is still there? I read one Draft site where they were predticted to take a HS pitcher from La. with Giolito falling to Toronto.

Gioloto is injured and he's not the same prospect coming into the draft as guys like Strasburg/Harper/Bundy/Cole with the new rules he's just not worth it for us.

Is there a good draft tracker anywhere?  Something like what NFL does where it auto-updates as picks come in?

MLB.com had one last year. You didn't have to watch the video to get the updates with each player's scouting report, as I recall.

Why does the first team get a clock? They should just pick.
