When do meaningless wins in September start to be counter productive to the overall health of your long term franchise goals?

In baseball that doesn't matter nearly as much.  Pick 7-8-9 just aren't different enough in the MLB draft to not go out and win with the young guys now.

Obviously a far out there example... but I'm sure the Mariners wish they lost another game or two for the shot at Strasburg rather than having to settle for Ackley.

True, but we "won" both Strasburg and Harper.  Two once in a generation guys.  Now that we've improved slightly it looks like the draft is back to normal (and supposedly really deep this year).

they probably felt that way until Strasburg heard a pop. At this point it's far too early to reach any kind of judgement as to who got the better pick.

I'll be on an airplane for the bulk of this game, looking forward to watching the highlights.
(Love the defense we've been getting lately almost as much as watching the long ball heading out my way).

Go Nats!

Like to see Zim in there but my un-initiated eyes kind of like that line-up.

Can Debbi Taylor ask any question either than "how does it feel....?"  :?

Also, I don't watch PTI with that idiot Kornheiser much at all but I had the show on TV while I was trying to take a nap and I'm always amazed at how that dude can continue to work in the sports industry when he knows very little to nothing about sports.  :bang:

Debbi only knows who, what, when, where and how.   At least it's a question.

Geeezus ... did Phil Wood sleep in that shirt?   He looks like a heavier Neil Young with that haircut.

I'm afraid you're right. Outside of the big names and big teams I don't think he even watches sports (and he may not even watch those games but has stats given to him before every show).

I admit, I watch PTI.   It's obvious somebody does TK's homework for him.   He has "talking points".   Wilbon at least watches games.

The only sport Wilbon knows well is basketball and he plays the race card all the time. No thanks.

Bill Simmons and TK this week were solid.
