This game is still very much within reach. They got a lucky homer..so can we. We've proven now that we can get on base. We have more hits than them as well.

Ayala looking good.. He is going to make this strong bullpen even better.  If only he could swing a bat

Until he gives up a few runs, right? Then he's "worthless".

A HR you say?  This team hasn't hit a HR in their last 6+ games.  They are due I guess

I guess that means it's impossible.

Terrible call by the umpire.. He isn't hitting well and the umps are screwing him to compound his issues

why is Traber facing righties?

Exactly. That whole situation was telegraphed to happen set up by having to extend Traber beyond an inning because they had Bergmann on a pitch count. Just a shame.

Zimmerman always gets the short end on those outside pitches.

Geez, Zimm.   Chases the lousy ones, and watches a beach ball go by.

That pitch looked right over the outside corner. Zimmerman is really struggling and is not going to get the benefit of any calls on a pitch from a veteran pitcher that close.

McCann's a badass catcher. His framework on that pitch was absolutely perfect. We lack that a bit.

Let's go, Dmitri!

...maybe YOUR optimism was/is too high.

Kind of ironic since you believe we still have a shot in this game.

The Nats offense was left in DC.  Maybe it'll arrive by tomorrow.  This happens a lot with this team.

I could give a crap about the World Series - I want them to show up and hit EVERY night.  Disappointing to watch them when they're obviously in their "shell".

Losing the first game of a three game series is so disappointing.  It almost guarantees that you're not going to win the series.

a lead-off single and we do absolutely nothing with it.  Zim, Young, and Kearns all had piss poor ABs.  They better score 10 runs tomorrow and Wednesday to make up for this disastrous outing.

WE don't make teams pay for throwing those straight down the middle and that frustrates the mess outta me.

Agreed.  Now we have to win Bacsik's start and we also have to beat Smoltz to take 2 of 3.  The chances of winning either game is below 50%.
