If he helps us win one World Series, it's worth it.

Werth's been pretty consistant since coming back from the wrist sprain.
As far as the beard - you never know what lurks in that dugout if the Nationals win the World Series.  Something worse than a shaving cream pie or Gadorade bucket

After last year's performance, I really wondered if Rizzo had made a mistake with Werth.  Glad to see, Rizzo chose well.  So far this year, all Werth does is hit!  I'd love to get him to a good barber though.

I read somewhere that he signed a contract with GEICO and he cannot shave or cut his hair.

I thought he had two homers last night - a grand slam and a walkoff.  Just missed on both.  Got lucky with the double that hit off the 3rd base bag, though.

I still say, as an outfielder, he is garbage.

He's mediocre to below average. In all honesty, he should probably be playing LF. The problem is we have Morse who is worse ...

He's better than Morse!

Watching the videos from last night, I think the big difference in Werth is that he looks like he's just having fun this year.  Not having the pressure of the first year of a big contract and having several guys to pull the load has really helped him.

Yes, but Morse has never been advertised as a good outfielder, much less, a "great" oufielder, which is how Werth was billed when we signed him.

So he is garbage for a great outfielder?

Garbage relative to expectation.  Werth might be a better outfielder than Morse (and I don't necessarily concede that point, but let's say it's so for discussion sake) - I don't call Morse "garbage" because nothing was expected of him.  Werth has been a bitter disappointment in the outfield.

Expecting Werth to be anything close to what he was never made much sense. He was a guy that was signed during his decline phase.

Werth's signing was a symbolic one.

We keep winning and he'll be worth every penny.

He commands respect, Harper sounds like he hangs on his every word, he seems a good guy who commands respect and has the jewellery we all crave.

Is he worth the money he was paid? No.... But at the end of the day it was more than money his signing represented

Easy to say that now, I suppose.  In four or five years we will probably be screaming about him every day like Giants fans do with Zito.

No reason to accelerate the screaming, however.  Can't we put that off until his play deserves it?

I follow pretty much every major sport in the world, since watching Liverpool win a champions league final back in 05 I have not seen any team I follow win anything of significance and I've experienced some serious heartbreak as a sports fan.

If the nats win a world series, I will never say a bad word about anyone or anything in the organization ever again, and trust me I mean it

Not a chance that he plays CF regularly.

I hated him last year, I thought he collected his paycheck and checked out. But he seems to be a great vet presence (Harper loves him, Moore says he's been a huge help) and damn has he stepped up. And he looks like he's having a blast. If this is the real Werth, I love it.
