Cross him off, then.

Great reference PB!  The one thing that always bothered me about that scene is when she says Lou Brown will be managing and the GM says "who's Lou Brown?"  As if any GM, even in 1989, wouldn't immediately know (and probably have considered for a vacancy) the Triple A manager (even if he did have a guy on the other line asking about some white walls.)

This was a good move by Rizzo.

Ironically, Rizzo autocorrects to Arizona.

What does Adrusbal provide in a season? In baseball stats are repetitive even though you may see improvements and surprises.

15 hrs  60 rbi's with a 330 obp ? His best season being 2011 though. Would that be enough for a 2b?

I'd be fine with that from our 2B. He's at least as good as Espinosa defensively and is providing solid numbers. We don't need him to be a star, just someone who can produce regularly and doesn't strike out 3-4 times a game.

Out of lineup tonight, but:
Mark Zuckerman ‏@ZuckermanCSN  3m
Asdrubal Cabrera says right side muscle feels "much better" today. Will go through regular pregame routine, thinks he could play if needed.

We have an 8 game lead, playing the easiest (but by no means easy, Phithies are no push-overs) team in the road trip.  We can afford to rest him a game, even two since we go against Hamels tomorrow.

Yup. Treat him like Werth was treated. No DL, rest, eventually pinch hit him then he's back.

Yes, but replacing Barrett with Thornton is also right up there.

You have to temper the enthusiasm some when you realize that he is strictly a rental.  No way he's back 2015.   If Walters turns out to be a star, then five years from now we may see this deal somewhat differently.   Still, I would not have hesitated to make the deal.

It may have been if we could have unloaded Danny instead of Walters...  :stir:

Doyle Alexander for some minor leaguer wins a division!  Larry Anderson for some spare for an AA 3d baseman who is blocked at 3d and 1st.
