April 5th - Washington Nationals vs New York Mets

John Patterson (9-7, 3.13)

Patterson (9-7, 3.13 ERA in 2005) had a great Spring Training, going 2-1 with a 2.01 ERA in five starts while developing a changeup and will use it against left-handed hitters. In four starts against the Mets last season, he went 0-1 with a 3.60 ERA. Overall, he is 1-2 with a 4.92 ERA against the Mets in 11 career appearances.

Brian Bannister (0-0, -.--)

The promising right-hander will make his Major League debut against the Nationals, stepping in for right-hander Victor Zambrano, who injured his left hamstring in his final appearance of Spring Training. Bannister -- the 25-year-old son of former Major Leaguer Floyd Bannister -- impressed Mets coaches during the spring and was the organization's top Minor League pitcher in 2005, when he went a combined 13-5 between Double-A Binghamton and Triple-A Norfolk.

There's a cable TV here at work, but I'm doing inventory so I'm not going to be able to watch it consistently.

what is the damn obsession with batting Nick Johnson 4th?

He's not a cleanup-type hitter!

It's not an obsession, its FR's "don't tell me what to do" attitude.

Yea the new Game Cast at ESPN is pretty cool. Did you noticed the tiny dot that represents the ball from the mound to the plate?

what is with the bad callls against the Nats? That ball was around claytons shoulders!

tell me about it, but remember, the home plate umpire for tonight's game is the SAME umpire who made the bad call covering from 1st base last night. So does that mean one umpire from every crew is being paid to work against the Nats?  Nahhhh, there are no conspiracies in baseball.

Yeah, that Ump sucks.  Same one that called Soriano out at the plate the other day, isn't he?

nice to know we've a much more high-powered offense this year.

We've moved up from stranding them on 1st and 2nd, to stranding them on 2nd and 3rd!

In fairness, Clayton got called out on BS, Schneider didn't get a chance, and Johnny Pat was doing the best he could.  No excuse for Zimmerman though.

I would make a terrible umpire, Watson looked like he got his hand in before he was tagged
