Was he? He must have been - he was almost at 3rd when Ibanez caught it.

Yeah, you could see him almost to third when the camera panned to left field.

NM, they are showing it now.

Have you guys ever heard of hit and run?  Zim scorched it but right @ LF...if that ball lands in front its a tie game.

ID looked safe too btw.

Bad baseball.

No reason to even try to attempt the steal when Zimmerman would drive him in with a hit anyways.

It wasn't a hit and run. It was a straight steal.

Why the hell do you do a hit and run with 2 on, 1 out, and Zimmerman up? Desmond scores on a base hit anyways. And I don't know if/why Dunn would be running, they never do a hit and run with him.

I think he was just trying to make something happen.  We haven't really forced their defense to make a play all night.

If the ball lands in front of LF its a run ... it looked to be hit and run.

If he hadn't slid past the bag he might have been, but he couldn't get back to the bag before the tag.

Well, Bernadina's coming to bat next and you know what that would mean, runners on base and he's the 3rd out...for the 4th time tonight.

If you think of it that way, it's not a bad decision.

If it was a hit and run, he wouldn't have been at third by the time the ball crossed the plate. It was a straight steal.

There's really no need to defend Desmond to the teeth. He can make a youthful mistake just like anyone else.

They should have sent Nyjer on that fly ball in the 1st with 1 out. You never look a gift horse in the mouth against the Phillies or Doc.
This team is almost 20 games out of 1st, there's no reason not to roll the dice on a play like that.

Missed it by about 3 inches. They showed the close-up.

When the freak have I turned it into an excuse, I saw desmond take off and zim swing...who's to say it was/wasn't a straight steal or hit and run.  To me it looked like hit and run to get something going.

the only thing worse than getting ruined in a david vs goliath pitching matchup is almost being able to win it but having the offense choke

So in your comparison, it would be the slingshot malfunctioning or the rock being a pebble?
