Anyone know of a site that lists the draftees that have signed to this point?  Not just Nats, but all teams?

Hey Brian - where would you put the new guys, Komatsu and Walters?  Have you seen much of them?  Would you care to put up your #'s 10-20?

Id rank it:
1 Harper
2 Rendon
3 Purke
4 Peacock
5 Cole
6 Norris
7 Meyer
8 Ray
9 Hood
10 Goodwin

Komatsu will probably land somewhere in the 20's. Walters would probably be in the last half of the teens maybe. IMO

Im hesitant on offering Buchanon money under any circumstance. He said they drafted him and basically were going to monitor him in the summer. He's still very raw. It takes a long time for those big kids(6'8 ) to develop. Meyer was more highly regarded coming out of HS and just took 3 years to become a difference maker, and is still a work in progress. Learning at the pro level might be too difficult for the kid to develop. If we could get him for 250,000 sure, but he's going to take at least a mill. Too big of a gamble IMO for a kid who really isn't even regarded as an elite prospect.

Laxer may be worth the gamble, because he's got some polish to go along with his stuff. Most reports have him touching 95 now, so he appears to be a Peacock type of guy. Bit small but has powerful stuff.

I am not really a Twitter guy, but i just looked at Buchanon and Laxer's recent entries.  The former doesn't sound, at all, like he wants to go pro.  Laxer seems much more probable.

Keep in mind they have an agenda to seem reluctant.  Maybe if the Nats kick in a couple more $100k the tune changes...

Laxer says he haven't talked to the Nationals since late June and doesn't expect a new offer but will listen if they make one before Aug.15.

Thats the problem with the late deadline. That appears to be how most teams approach the 'tough' signs.

If we can't get a deal done with Purke, I would hope we can get Laxer, Tobias, and Mooneyham done. I imagine if we draw the line at $3mill in Purke, that amount could get those three in the fold. Maybe another 500K(900K for Laxer, $1mill for Mooneyham, $1.5 for Tobias). All my own speculation of course, but I can't imagine kids turning down million dollar offers if they don't exactly project as top ten picks in the future.

"Small" draft signings update by Kilgore basically states that they expect to sign their top four picks.  Purke had a physical at Nats Park.  Nats "are satisfied all four have no health issues."

Doing their own physical of Purke is a pretty big development IMO.

They're going to get the best info they can get. If he's deemed healthy, pony up the cash. Getting that medical was a big deal. They've gotten it now.

Close on him Rizzo!

Interesting again though, that there's no mention of Kylin Turnbull.

I wouldn't go as far as Kilgore saying they expect to sign all four. He's saying they have no trepidations about it- which is of course significant. A physical at Nats park is certainly a step in the right direction, but I don't know that it's enough to "expect" to sign Purke.

I'm staying cautiously optimistic.

I would!  Here's a direct quote from the second paragraph:

"The Nationals are still expected to sign all four players by the deadline."  He is clearly talking about the top four picks.

A comment on the article mentions a Rizzo "video blog" where he discusses Matt Purke? Anyone know about this?

The Nationals are not expected to sign 15th round pick Zach Houchins according to MLB.com's Bill Ladson. Houchins, a junior college shortstop from North Carolina, says the team has not contacted him since June, after he posted what were considered racist and homophobic remarks on Twitter.

Thats the link.

Anyway, while I doubt he gets signed, you never know.

If the Nats call over the weekend and offer $75,000 he could easily take it.
