If you looked only at the first year after a trade is made, most prospects (when they are involved) would look worthless b/c they aren't helping your team win right away. We got better than just a prospect. We got an MLB-ready 23 y/o that will be in our outfield for years to come. We definitely got the better end of the deal, IMO.

I wouldn't call Milledge MLB-ready yet.  He's nearly there, but he still needs some work, obviously.

from my forum travels, it looks like the Mets fans have begun to sour on The Trade.

Schneider has come back down to earth, and is being what Schneider always was(.250/.333/.299 is his line at the present time....remember when Schneider was hitting like .340-something and all the Mets fans were laughing at us?), and I read somewhere that he lost the starting catcher job and also the Mets may be looking to trade for a Catcher soon(i'm trying to find some more evidence of this). and Church is in the DL.

How quickly fans forget that Schneider calls a "darn good game".

ya, Livo was released. i wish we could bring him back, but he doesn't fit in with the youth movement. maybe he could be a long reliever?

About half the board that was livid that we didn't sign him for $3m in the offseason.  Innings eater, they said.

Innings eater's can be so overrated all they need to do is have an ERA around 4.5 and go 200 innings and they apparently are good pitchers? But Livan is a good one since he goes deep into games most of the time.

He's given up 199 hits in 140 innings (). I wouldn't consider him a "good one" anymore.

Rasner gives up 2 in the first against the Halos. He has a 5.08 ERA on the season now. And people were all over JB for letting that hack go.

Good, he can help one of our NL competitors suck a little more.

Rockies Win Claim On Livan Hernandez
from MLB Trade Rumors by Tim Dierkes

According to Ken Rosenthal, the Rockies won their waiver claim on Livan Hernandez.  Apparently the Rox beat out another NL team with a better record.  Apparently no American League team put in a claim.

At the least, the Twins will dump off Hernandez just to be free of his contract.  At most, they might be able to snag some kind of fringe prospect.  Hernandez is owed another $1.5MM, plus incentives.

Jesus, they really couldn't do any better?

Oh well, I'm all of Lopez's stats will go up 40 points just from being out of DC.  And if he's still playing for them next year, he'll probably come into town and embarass us, then talk a bunch of crap about the FO to reporters.  Standard ex-Nats MO.

I guess they could have called up D'Angelo Jimenez. But the Cards aren't getting any offense from their shortstops.

I don't care if that motherfreaker hits .440 next year. He didn't do it for us so he was of no use to us.
