Horrifying 0-2 pitch. When you need him to throw a strike he throws a ball and when you need him to throw it out of the zone he throws it down the middle.

Randy St. Claire is so damn overrated. Get him the freak out of here.

Our pitchers make way, way too many mental mistakes.

Definitely. We have plenty of young starters. I'm more worried about our bullpen and offense going into next year.
you guys are crazy - outside of the small arena of Nationals die-hards (i.e. WNFF members) these guys aren't even on the radar.  C'mon wake up!  We have a team of nobodys and will remain an embarassment until somebody gets SOMEBODY on this team.   :?

Bergmann's line is final: 2.1 IP 5 H 7 R 7 ER 3 BB 2 K.

After this loss, his record goes to 2-11 and his ERA rises to 5.23. Total chump. One of the worst starters in the NL at this point.

Sutton on Bergmann's trouble: "It's become an epidemic".

7 runs in 2.1 innings. However, rest easy Bergmannites. The minor league season is over and there is no chance he gets what he deserves! A freaking demotion.     :bang:  :hang:  :bball:

Faithful WNFF members to Bergmann's rescue.

Jordan Zimmermann was dominant this year at Harrisburg. Martis dominated everywhere he pitched (Harrisburg+Columbus). Mock had a splendid season in Columbus. These guys are not far away at all. They could all be in the rotation next season.

And last year people were calling for us to rework our rotation and make him our "ace". Also there was talk about him being Washington's representative in the ASG.

They would barely make a #5 spot on a contenders roster and you know it.  Geez man...don't be delusional with minor league stats...outside of Nationals fans, if you mentioned Jordan Zimmerman, Martis or Mock to somebody in the baseball world...they wouldn't know who the heck you were talking about.

How many people know/knew who Lannan was at the beginning of this season? He is top 5 in the NL in quality starts.

Potomac-Wilmington (6th Inning):  Boomer Whiting, who has the only RBI of the game off a sacrifice fly in the 3rd, leads off the frame with a first pitch single over the third baseman's head.  Michael Martinez bunts Whiting over to second.  Dan Lyons flies out to the centerfielder for out #2. Andrew Lefave lines one out to the left fielder to leave Boomer Whiting stranded.

Detwiler is at 82 pitches through five innings, this should be his last frame.  The first batter grounds the ball to Detwiler.  Detwiler is inducing massive ground balls now, his ratio is now 8 GO:4 AO.  Former Potomac Cannon, Brad Correll, hits a blooper to center field for the second Wilmington hit of the game.  Severino is now warming up in the Potomac pen.  Detwiler is starting to fell some fatigue, he walks Jeff Bianchi to put a runner in scoring position.  Randy Knorr takes a stroll to the mound, along with the rest of the infield.  After a short conference, Knorr decides to leave Detwiler in for the rest of the inning, pending a blow-up.  Bad decision by Knorr, as Detwiler shows his characteristic trait, a fifth walk.  End of the game for Detwiler, his line:  5.1 IP, 2 H, 5 BB, 4 SO.  He leaves the game in line for the win, but with the base loaded.

The Dominican lefty, Atahaulpa Severino, comes in for Ross Detwiler.  Severino has not let up a run since August 14, this is his second appearance of the series.  This season, Severino has inherited 17 runners, stranding 14 of them.  Josh Johnson flies out to right field, Michael Burgess rifles the ball home as Brad Correll attempts to go home.  He returns to third after he sees the strength of Burgess' arm.  Severino strikes out Jeff Howell on a 2-2 swinging strike to get Detwiler off the hook in the 6th.  This is the second time that the Blue Rocks have left the bases loaded tonight.

P-Nats 1, Wilmington 0

It all starts at the top like I have said earlier this season. When you assemble a lineup like Manny did tonight you are clearly not playing to win the game.

I could care less if people are talking about him tonight. His numbers speak for themselves. Just because people haven't heard of these guys doesn't mean they aren't good.

Players that are stars get talked about on a national stage - plain and simple.  We have none, zero - nada.  All nobodies, wash-ups and has-beens.  Until that changes...this team will always be a farce.

Is this the only trait by which you judge MLB players?  You must have a very short list of good players in the MLB, then.  The media couldn't give a crap about anyone who plays outside of NY or Boston.

Ok, guys.  WITHOUT being nasty and vicious, please tell me what you think is going on with Bergmann.  His past couple of outtings have been rough, to say the least.  I can see what the box score looks like, that's not what I'm asking.  I'm asking an honest question.

You are overlooking all of the young talent we have.

Look at the Rays this season. They have none of these stars you are talking about. They just have a lot of very solid young players mixed together with a few decent vets. No stars at all.

No it's not just the media.  But that's not true by any stretch of the imagination anyways...
