10:00 start time???
« Topic Start: October 03, 2007, 11:01:17 PM »
Now, I've stayed up for countless west coast games over the years, but has there ever been a 10 ET start time for a playoff game?!?  I'll watch every game I can, obviously, but this week is going to kill me (I get up at 6 a.m).  That said, what a great day of baseball!

I think it's awesome.  You can watch playoff baseball from 3 PM in the afternoon until 1 AM+ in the morning. I'm watching Webb and Zambrano duel right now.

It's been back-to-back pitchers' duels!

Can't wait to see my favorite ex-Nat Livo pitch game 3! I think he'll pitch a gem, he thrives in big games. You can count on him in the clutch.

Hopefully next yr he wont be an ex anymore and will be back in DC where he belongs. He's a more than serviceable #3 or #4 starter.

I love catching Nats away matches from out West on the radio - downright relaxing and enjoyable late at night. (Now if only this year's post-season had stayed on strong-signal WTEM instead of migrating to dinky low-power Triple X!)

I hate to say this but if you get XM you can get it pretty good.  However you need to get a receiver and pay around 13-14 dollars a month.

If you pay for 3 years up front the monthly rate drops dramatically (to 9 or 10 a month, I forget which)

If, after paying for a year, you call up to cancel, they really drop the rate. I think I'm paying $6 a month now.
But it's only good for talk. The music is so compressed that it makes your teeth grind.

The home team gets the home advantage, which is the game at an appropriate time in their time zone. When Arizona goes to play in Chicago they play at 6 PM and at 1 PM EST. The 1 PM game is at 10 AM in Arizona....it goes both ways. I have no issue with this as I believe all of playoff games should be nationally televised and this is the appropriate way to handle the coverage.

On the fan side of things I also agree with this. Unlike last year the games are afternoon/night games. Therefore people who work/go to school can actually see the game. Weekdays last year the Yanks/Tigers series was at 1 PM. That really pissed me off. I don't care how late the game is, it is the playoffs and if my team is in it I don't care when they play - as long as I can see it.
