Washington will send rookie left-hander Matt Chico (2-2, 5.70 ERA) to the mound. On Friday, Chico allowed two runs and nine hits in 5 1-3 innings to earn the win in the Nationals' 4-3 victory over the Mets.

He has never pitched against the Padres.

Clay Hensley (1-3, 7.86) gets the ball for San Diego in search of his third straight quality start. Hensley went 0-3 with a 12.21 ERA in his first three starts of the year, but is 1-0 with a 2.92 ERA in his last two outings.

He held the Los Angeles Dodgers to two runs and six hits in 6 1-3 innings on Friday, but the Padres lost 6-5 after the bullpen gave up four runs in the ninth inning.

Will this be the time the Nats finally win a series?

Here's something fun: the W-L stats for the Nats depending on WHO posts the gameday thread.

2k6nats..................7-15
sportsfan882...........1-0
Kenz aFan...............1-0
kimnat....................0-1
PC..........................0-1
Erica's Nats.............0-1

I might add that the Nats are 7-8 in my last 15 threads

This stretch started directly after my horrible stretch of EIGHT straight losses when I posted the threads to start the year.  I had a mutiny on my hands.  I thank Sens for breaking that mark, when he suggested that I replace Jason Bergmann's avatar with a picture of General Cutler (see link below).  I don't know why that appeased the baseball gods.  Maybe because we were all so gloomy with the 1-8 start that when that took place, we lightened up just a little.  I'm a regular philosopher...

LOST = best.show.ever.

anyways this game is a homecoming for Chico, so i think he'll be amped. Hensley is just what the doctor prescribed for our sleeping bats. I say we score a healthy amount of runs and give Chico some run support and pick up the curly w!

Another RBI from The Church.
IN THE FIRST INNING.  Not likely if he was batting 6th.

Nationals 1
Padres 0

Take that, Padres!

MLB.TV is ridiculously slow tonight.  I'm gonna step away from the computer before I smash it.

Hey guys...I can see there's not many people around tonight!  I just got back from the P-Nats game and witnessed a first (at least for me).  The Winston-Salem Warthogs made a bunt home run.

Wow.  How did Everts look tonight?  WTF, Snelling traded for Langerhans...ughhhhhhhhhhhhhh.  Langerhans is only hitting .063 this season.

That may be bad luck for us... Chico JUST walked his first batter.
So HOW does someone get a bunt HR?

Chico is THE MAN!  Another scoreless inning!

This is weird. Langerhans just got traded from the Braves to the A's and now he gets traded to the Nats. When he got traded to the A's I remember thinking about that play that cost them the game in Atlanta last season on Nick Johnson's tapper back to first.
