Unless you only have rabbit ears, you're already paying the cable company and you still have to have ads.  Plus, the content is only available on their set schedule.

Not only that, but they've made it so you have to use their box, which you have to lease from them, for every tv since they don't transmit the content in the clear anymore.

On the one hand I agree.  On the other hand I am not a fan of a future where nobody ever owns anything and everything is "licensed".  Or rather a present, since it's mostly already like that.

Exactly, it's like that already.  Even with a DVD, you don't really own a copy of the music, you've licensed it.  Plus, they want you to only have access to it on that platform.  Dear god, don't rip a copy so you can watch it on your phone, that's stealing!  Right from the mouths of the actors!

Yeah but you *can* rip a DVD (or bluray, with a bit more effort), that's the point.  I know they don't want you to, there are technically laws that forbid it in a roundabout way, etc. etc. but it's still better than any form of online streaming or stores with proprietary company-specific DRM like iTunes.  No chance there's ever a widely circulated and easy method for de-DRMing/backing up stuff like that :(

At least music is finally de-DRM'd.

I guess I'm unlike you, I prefer the Netflix model of one price, stream anything in the catalog.  I'd never buy some of the stuff I've watched but I'll give it a shot with Netflix or Hulu.  Tv is the worst, buying seasons is expensive.

But why can't there be a method where say "The all new Big Bang Theory, available at 9 pm est tonight!"  At 9, it appears on your streaming list and you can watch it.  Or if you're not home at 9, you can start at 9:30 instead, or whatever.

I guess you could buy a dvr.  Or rent on from the cable company :spaz:

Oh, and you can "back up" iTunes purchases just fine.  You just have to authorize a new machine if you wish to watch it on that machine.  Of course, you are locked into the apple ecosystem.

big bang theory may be the worst show in the entire history of TV.

seinfeld on the other hand is top 3 ever.

I'm pretty sure you have no idea what you're talking about... The Big Bang Theory is awesome.

Agreed!  But you have to have some knowledge of what they are talking about for a lot of the jokes.  Like when Sheldon calls the police for a "robbery" and it's because someone stole his gold and loot on WoW :lmao:

It's ok hammonds, not everyone has the intellect to get the jokes.  It doesn't mean we're better than you.  Just smarter.   8)

I don't think he's annoying so much as just painfully extremely awkward.  Not that the other characters aren't, but they all own it better than he does.
