Do NOT make this about money or any other off-field factors.
Dunn. His offense is elite, period. Werth-Zimmerman-Dunn is a murderers' row. I can make up for his below average defense with plus defense at 2B (Espinosa), SS (Desmond, at times), 3B (Zimm), RF (Werth).
I loled.
Neither are ideal. I'll take LaRoche because of defense.
Why?
Because everyone plays plus defense AT TIMES but Desmond certainly isn't a net plus defense player at this point in his career due to the errors.
Even though this isn't even a question offensively, I will say that whether it's LaRoche, Dunn, luck, or sample size, the reduction in jackass infield throwing errors has been pleasant.
we need a team of players who have a passion to win. Dunn didn't have that passion.
I'm leaning towards LaRoche (at the moment) because I am starting to buy into Rizzo's theory (and maybe that's all it is, a theory) that we need a team of players who have a passion to win. Dunn didn't have that passion.
Dunn didn't have that passion.
There have been a lot of undercurrents that the Nats FO didn't like Dunn's happy go lucky personality. I have no idea if there's anything there but those of us on the outside will probably never know.
I agree with this. Dunn is not a winner and he is a jerk. LaRoche isn't the most rah-rah guy but is a good clubhouse guy and isn't an jerk.
