I've seen him play. There is nothing there that screams starter on a contending team. If anyone is mindfacting, it's those who are saying I have to "watch him play" and "not everything shows up in the stats." Big deal, he hit well against guys who will be in Double A or Triple A by April. He should. That's what his skill level is.

I think Espinosa's best season is an absolute max ceiling from Walters. Only with worse defense and less base running. Espinosa in 2011 or 2012 would be the absolute career season for Walters, and more than likely his OPS would be about 10-20 points lower.

Espinosa's best season was 2010 at Harrisburg, where he hit 22 homers on a .262 batting average. In 2012, Walters hit .293 at Harrisburg with 9 homers; last season he hit .253 at Syracuse with 29 homers.  Not much difference. Espinosa has not hit in the majors; we'll see about Walters.

For this year, Walters ought to play every day at Syracuse, and Espinosa or Carroll should be a backup infielder in Washington. Do we like Espinosa as a pinch-hitter? Tie game, runner on third with one out?

We have McClouth, Hairston, and even Lobaton to pinch hit over Espinosa or Carroll.

Carroll actually has better stats over any of them to be the guy to pinch hit.  He has a career .330 average as a pinch hitter.

Not anymore. If it were 2011 or even the beginning of 2012, I'd take Espinosa once the bench was exhausted.

He has a history of being antisocial on social media. Salty.

He's still on the big team, right?

Sent down last week.

Where is Comak on this? I thought they hired her to be in charge of social media and clamp down on things like this? That Tweet is still there after four days. (Not that I'm against Nats players airing out their grievances publicly or even making flippant references to sensitive topics, but the team is so image conscious and controlling that it's surprising when things like this slip through the cracks.)

I'm guessing that may have something to do with Carroll being released.  They probably asked him to play at Syracuse to work with the kids.  I thought there were stories about him working with Walters earlier.

Or else Walters might have Vince Wilfork on his fantasy team.

{Edit - oh, I see it is 4 days old, so it could not have to do with Carroll.  Then it has to be Wilfork.}

It was either the Doors or Hall and Oates, but he's not a she so She's Gone is not appropriate.
