This is very exciting for Nats' fans.  We're very good pitching-wise.  The hitting is not there yet but we're winning and what a wonderful feeling for long-time suffering Nats' fans!  And I'm sure one of them!!

Stammen has stolen the vulture label from Clip!
Beat me to it, Linty.  I was thinking the exact same thing.

Agree with those who have already singled out Stammen.  He's been sensational!

This was the model that recently won a World Series for San Francisco.

Keep sole possession of First Place! Investment in quality pitching is bearing fruit. Nice to see.

The longest game by innings in Major League Baseball was a 1-1 tie in the National League between the Boston Braves and the Brooklyn Dodgers in 26 innings, at Braves Field in Boston on May 1, 1920.

We can take em. ;)

I believe both starting pitchers went the distance in that game.

  And a couple of players went 0-10 at the plate and one went 0-11.

I just looked up the box score and I see that game was played in 3 hours 50 minutes. Tonight's took longer than that for half the number of innings. I dozed off on the couch (woke up for the end), though that might have been due to too much beer.

Can't help but think how good this team could be with a healthy Michael Morse.

But that's enough wallowing. We win again!!!

My laptop was dead. But as the game carried on, I started thinking "man, I can't wait to read some of the Game Day Thread on this one"....haha, reading the last few pages was fun/funny. This game almost gave me a heart attack...this team's gonna be bad for my health but I LOVE IT. 6-2 BABY!!!!

when even Jayson Werth is getting big hits, you know there's something different about this team.  Loved Jayson's post-game comments.

Can't wait to see them sweep tomorrow!

I'm pretty sure this is a four game series...

That was a very frustrating game to be at for the first 8 innings. Then it was really fun. By the end of it I was sitting 3 rows behind the Reds dugout and reminding Dusty Baker of all the previous failures of his managerial career.

I still can't figure out what he's saying.  It almost looks like he starts to say "Number one", but then at the last moment switches to "wooooo", so it comes out as "Number wooooo", which just doesn't make any sense...
