did papa grande strike him out? That is the more important question
I realize this was totally sarcastic, but this is exactly why it's almost driving me nuts as a Dunn fan at this point. Today, 4ABs. 2 hits, including the homer, which he's on pace for 48!!! So two chances to strike out, and sure enough, game 27. I just don't understand how it's possible, honestly. Dude is hitting well. But it's like he either hits or Ks. No groundouts or flyout. Two chances today, and as I mentioned, before, 8/10 games with three or fewer Abs.
That got me curious, including hits. So official AB - hits. Six of 27 games, he only made two outs. Here's the insanity. Six games he ONLY MADE ONE OUT!!! I mean think about that for a second. The guy is hitting like mad. Six of 27 games, only made one out. Just one. He hits like crazy, so much so he only records two outs in 1/4 of his games, and one out in another 1/4. You tell me, combined with his insane hitting, the statistical probability of recording a K in 27 straight. And it's not like he Ks every out. 40ks, 27 games, 96 Abs. The odds of King in six games with one out has to be below 1%. It's an obscure record, yeah, but most importantly, it just doesn't make any sense, honestly. As I said, it's just the worst string of luck ever. Likewise, if you're gonna make an out, it's a hell of a lot better than a GiDP, so combined with production, Sox fans should actually be totally happy about this.
And I'll save the inevitable.
