Doc is the only NBC announcer with a shred of intelligence, and unfortunately he sounds like a screeching banshee.  But, hey, who cares, it's hockey!  And in a couple of hours the Joe & Craig show will serve as proof that the earth remains in its proper orbit.

Radio coverage is pretty good too with John Walton (and sounding better than ever on FM-106.7 - apparently all of the Caps matches are going on that station, and any conflicting Wizards matches will be seconded to AM-1500).

So DC fans yell out Red and Baltimore fans yell out Oh during the National Anthem?

The thing that upset me is when the color team leader ordered "present arms" the soldier on the left of the formation went to right shoulder arms instead of present arms.   Gig 'im.   (Sorry, old infantry guy here.)

I hear you I hear you. Drill is mainly bullcrap but if it's presenting the colors, you shoukdnt be freaking it ultimately. Pretty sure I can remember order arms and I've been out almost a couple years.

ETS'd over 40 years ago here.     Like you imply, "Present arms ain't rocket science."

Ovie shouldn't be on the PP kill. He can't create his own shot and he is not defensive minded

When Oates presented that possibility just before the season, I thought it was "hoping" on his part.   Can't see that lasting long.

Is Al Koken the Caps' Phil Wood?   Nah  ....   maybe it's the hair.   I always liked the Koken and Fornes broadcast team.

In the one plus games so far, the Caps look way off.  (Ain't that sure what that means.)   Caps have moments where they look great and then   ....

This is pitful.   What's up with Joe's math?   "Caps haven't lost a home opener since 2000  ...  10 years? "   Huh?  ... even with a dead season.

This is ugly. Getting whipped at home by a bad team playing the second game of a back to back.

New coach, new system, no preseason= suck. All the players could do was stay in shape during the lock out. That isn't enough under the circumstances. Ted punts another season.

they looked good and energetic to start. picked off a lot of passes in the neutral zone. sucks, we give up a couple of bounce goals and carlson getting absolutely burned (and holtby looked like he could have had a better angle. seemed to be covering about a foot outside of the post on Kane)and now we are down three. bounces wont always go against us and carlson is better than that (so is holtby). i'd like to see some fire in this third period though. cant keep your heads in your asses too long in a short season
