John Smoltz, RHP (10-5, 3.41).....
VS .....
Billy Traber, LHP (2-1, 5.14) Smoltz tossed his third complete game of the season, limiting the Brewers to one run and five hits on Friday night. He has won six straight decisions and hasn't lost any of his past 11 starts. One of his other complete games came on June 7, when he limited the Nationals to two runs and four hits. He has posted a 2.63 ERA in his past nine starts.
Traber will face the Braves for the first time in his career. In his last start, Traber pitched seven-plus innings and gave up one run on four hits against the Mets. He struck out two batters and walked none. Traber was economical in his pitching, throwing 82 pitches, 59 of them strikes. Even more important, the Mets right-handed hitters went a combined 3-for-19 against Traber. He said he learned to be efficient during his time in New Orleans.
