It's going to be a long season.  Their best player tonight was Earl Barron.  Earl Barron is a terrible player.

Looks like maybe 25-30 wins right now.  Maybe Wall and Nene come back and they look a lot different - but they're both supposed to be out a long time.

What happened to Wall?

Some kind of knee injury.  Not as bad as an ACL tear but will require another month of rest and then whatever amount of time to get back into shape.

What a great season of basketball coming up. Stern is probably going to get exactly what he wants, Lebron v. Kobe Finals.

on the bright side, they were tied in the middle of the 4th quarter. all without missing their two best players. wall should be back in a month. nene, who knows? it also seemed like the wizards missed a lot of wide open shots and a couple of short put-backs. that could be a result of being bad players, but i dont think they are that bad and if they could have just scored those easy baskets with a non atrocious percentage they might have won

It sucks cuz no matter how bad we do, we won't get the #1 pick because the system's rigged.

I only ask because I like WNFF's opinion:

So do you guys think Booker in the first game is an abberation, or do you think he's hit his max? Or is it still out the window?

Then how did you end up with Wall?

They should contract at least a third of the NBA teams and be done with it.  Start with Milwaukee, Sacramento, Washington, Minnesota, Memphis, and Atlanta and move on from there.

Pretty strong top 5, but that's about it. Will be a lot weaker if Zeller and Shabazz Muhammad stay in school.

I think Jabari Parker is going to be the next NBA superstar. He'll be in the 2014 draft class. He's pretty much a Carmelo Anthony clone.

The first time I read that I thought it said Jabroni Parker.

They should make Basketball a 10 on 10 game.

That way there would be 9 Lakers standing around watching Kobe.

The NBA should get rid of the max salary but keep the salary cap.  That way, Lebron James can get paid $40 mil a year or whatever but 2 other guys almost as good can't be on the same team.  Lakers can have Kobe at however much he wants to make but they can't have Pau Gasol and Dwight Howard and Steve Nash.

That's a great idea, and it would solve the dilemma of the lack of parity in the NBA.

Wizards home opener last night...and the card-based ticketing system (to be extended to the Capitals and Mystics as well, along with of course the Nationals) still has some bugs in it. Going through the special STH queue (remember the Wizards' STH base is nowhere nearly as big as the Caps') the very first thing the ticket checker  said to me was 'did you print your ticket?'...uh no, the card is supposed to be machine-readable in and of itself so there's no need for me to do that...and then she tried seven times to get my card to register, all unsuccessful, and she was about to get one of her mates to try my card in her reader until she finally hit it on the eighth try...and right afterward, in removing my ticket receipt from the printer, she tore it right across the seat number, so I had to show both fragments to the chap outside my section. (In fairness, one of my regular seatmates got his to register on the first try.)

Word to Caps STH: if they ever do manage to salvage part of the NHL season, be sure to arrive when the doors open...that could be a real mess.

...meanwhile back on the hardwood, the tried-and-true formula of last season still holds good...get a big lead on the Wizards early and let them spend the rest of the match trying to pull it out (which they almost did).

Just started watching another travesty of a game.  Boston is up 11-2 only 3 minutes into the game.

Looking better now.

Wittman needs to realize that this team's best chance of scoring and winning is by getting the ball inside to the bigs. Seraphin is unstoppable these days. He needs to get 30+ minutes every game.
