They're a lot farther from contention than their fanbase seems to think. I know I might be a touch biased, but it's going to be be very hard for them to wrestle the division away from us and Atlanta in the years to come.

The phils are dependent on a bounce back year from Halladay so they can go with the 3 aces and Kendrick.  they also need to keep the old guys healthy. more or less, the guys they are paying the bigs bucks to have to give them complete seasons.  They do that, they will be > .500.

So is it Wei Yin Chen for the Os?

I don't know, when healthy the last two months of the season they played very well. However their key pieces are all getting old and have a history of health issues so it's not likely they keep the core intact for a full season next year.  However i fully expect them to be much closer to us then they were this year.

I think Saunders has already been announced as the one game playoff starter.

Last year when they announced that there would be a one-game wild card playoff, win or go home, everyone said, "that sounds like a game Joe Saunders will start."

I hope his sorry ass gets lit up and he retires out of embarrassment.

I think they will slide farther away. They are tough, and that wins a lot of games, but they are thin. Early in the season, Boswell picked the Nats and Braves as the rising teams, and Fillies as the team about to crumble. Look at the Fillies roster, look at the age, and then look for young players.

Everyone knew this could happen to the Phillies. The gambled their future on winning multiple championships during a three to four year period, but it didn't work out. A rebuild phase is inevitable.

Ernie Johnson, John Smoltz & Cal Ripken (w/ Craig Sager) will call BAL-TEX #WildCard game at 8:30pmET on TBS. #Postseason

Isn't this a conflict of interest? How can Ripken call the O's game?

Meh, it happens quite a bit now a days in sports.  Has he been doing their games all year on TBS?

For the Orioles' though? That's a joke. He has a clear and obvious bias towards them. Makes no sense. Why wouldn't they simply assign him to the other series?

Well this is really stupid. And they have Joe "Braves Homer" Simpson doing the Braves game. What a joke.

Well, Smoltz would have just as big of a Braves bias if he'd be doing that game.  If this is the normal crew you were going to have that issue regardless.  There are so many local guys who also do national games that you're going to have this fairly regularly.  If Kirk Herbstreit can do Ohio State games nationally, Ripken should be able to maintain some professionalism in the broadcast too.

He's calling the game in the booth not behind the plate.

My guess: Yankees over Reds. I'll hate every minute of it if it comes true. Hate the Yankees.

Are you that ignorant?  How is this any different from Joe and Jack Buck doing Cards games over the years?  I guess Joe Beninati should never do Caps postseason games?  Should Aikman be barred from covering Cowboys games?

I have the Giants over the Tigers.

Angelos scum like Billy Ripken should not be allowed anywhere near post-season baseball (and yes, Beninati should not be allowed near Caps post-season because of his Bettman loyalty).

Somewhere, integrity has to have a presence.

the Bobby V era in Boston is over.   The Red Sox want John Farrell, but they would have to trade for him.
