We can't possibly have every guy on the roster get hurt, right?

...right?

What's the record for most members of a team to hit the DL in a year?

it is unless one of our top 3 pitchers gets hurt.

I'd say our top five starters and even then maintaining first place with this offensive production is not sustainable over a full season.

Not sustainable.

It is if you're a member of the SSS!

Not sustainable.
We should end up around 90 wins assuming Zimmerman ever starts hitting and if we ever get anything from Michael Morse. Our bullpen has been a cluster f-ck at times and our offense will eventually improve a bit. Our starting pitching will come down to earth a bit, but our top 3 is ridiculous.

Bullpen has the sixth highest WAR in baseball. Hardly a cluster.

Plenty of room for them to get worse.

At least the infield is relatively healthy now execpt for Ramos, but an offense shouldn't rise or fall with a catcher

WAR loves Ks and innings pitched- as long as half the staff only goes 6 and HRod and clipp maintain high k rates, the war number should stand

No I know. Smithian was saying the pen has been a cluster. I was saying it hasn't been.

Note: 2012 Nats on pace with pennant-winning 1925 Washington Nationals, who were at 21 - 12 in late May. (Not that I'm going to compare the two teams all season, but...)

My post mostly meant I expected them to get a lot better

Getting Storen back should help improve the bullpen.

He meant Strasburg, Gio, Strasburg, JZ, and Strasburg.

He forgot Harper, which is easy to do because he is an in-the-background kind of guy.

It's funny how the highest paid starter in the rotation is the worst :stir:

And the second-highest paid would-be starter is in AAA :stir: :stir: :stir:

Yep, as a fan I like to call for us to sign every big name that comes up, but as an owner I think that I'd trade our stars as they approach free agency and the bad side of 30.  Give me a team of hungry guys aged 22-28 with depth to keep plugging the holes.

The SSS take on the Ramos injury (and I had to search for this) is this gives Flores a chance to prove he's a starting catcher. When Ramos comes back next year we will have two bonafide starting catchers and one will make great trade bait. And we will have discovered our backup catcher this year too!

We really need to get Morse back though....

i created this thread and I see no positives in the Ramos injury.  It's the biggest blow we've faced so far this year IMHO.

Really? I think Werth and morse are far bigger blows, even storen is debatable.

Anyone who sees a positive in the Ramos injury, even a silver lining is an idiot.  I'm a Flores fan so I'm happy to see him get some starts but this can only be viewed as a disaster.
