Nats plans for Flores?
« Topic Start: September 28, 2012, 07:17:23 PM »
It appears ( for good reason! ) that Zukie has taken over as #1 catcher. I guess Flores will be used strictly to provide a rest...but in the playoffs will he get any starts at all?.....and with a healthy Ramos next year he could be the odd man out. But then again, I think we still need to sign Zukie.

Suzuki is under contract for next year, with an $8.5 MM option for the following year.

Flores is likely to be traded in the offseason.  Conceivably, they could retain him and figure he's only going to be $1 MM or so.  That is kind of a cheap insurance policy in case Ramos  is not ready to go at the start of the year.  Still, if there is a team that would give the Nats something for Flo, then they pull the trigger on the deal and go with Leon / Solano as the insurance policies for Ramos.

No it isn't - Suzuki and Flores were platooning until recently.  Maybe Flores is hurt

Zuki was named the starter from the get-go. He's just better than Flo.

I' guessing they don't offer him arbitration, let him walk, and give him a chance to catch on elsewhere.  he's a AAA catcher if we keep him.

I wouldn't call 38 starts for Suzuki to 14 starts for Flores platooning.
