Chico has a 1.269 WHIP and a 3.12 ERA in AA as a 27-year old. Why in the world would we call him up to the majors?

J.D. Martin: 1-1, 3.97 ERA, 14/6 K/BB in 22.2 IP (AAA.Syracuse)

Matt Chico: 1-2, 3.12 ERA, 17/7 K/BB in 26 IP (AA.Harrisburg)

because the club is considering it according to reports and his numbers aren't bad.

I am still taken back by Lannan missing a start.

Lannan has been the only consistent starter for the last 2+ years.  Marquis, Lannan, Mock (who cares), this isn't good.  none of our young pitchers (besides Jesus) are major league quality.  I say we give Chico a few starts if he really is fully recovered.  He was serviceable three years ago, who knows....

TomTerp, if Livan can get them out throwing 65, imagine what the Turtle can do throwing 40.

Atahualpa Severino, mainly because I want to hear Ray Knight pronounce his first name.

I don't see a problem with just throwing in who every would be up in the Syracuse rotation that day. Atalino was better than most people thought, why not give another guy a shot

That would be Shairon Martis, who had his first good start Monday.  Strasburg is due to start Friday, so it would be an extra day.  for Martin, it would be 2 extra days.  Chico would be pitching on his turn and he's on the 40 man.  I'm guessing its Chico.  the other possibility is Batista, but I don't think they want to lose the "flexibility*" he gives them in the bullpen.

* He stinks in a variety of roles.

Livan Hernandez.  freak it.  He can throw a CG on Saturday and follow it up with seven strong on Sunday.  :whip:

I have heard mutterings that Clippard might move back to starter at some point.

Its going to be JD Martin. He was to pitch tonite in AAA but he has been replaced by Kown via syracusechiefs.com website.

Not sure I can get it that far (to home plate) right now.  Got another rehab session tonight.  I always seem to draw the most attractive therapists, but once hooked they reveal their dark masochism and the torture begins.    :whip:

I'm thinking I might be ready around the time Zimmermann is.     :?

Thanks Spin, makes sense to me.

I also think JD ought to be a candidate for swing man/long relief on the Nats too, if Batista continues to struggle.

Atilano was awful last night.  We'll see.  We should have an answer today, I'm assuming.

I'm a big J.D. Martin fan. I guess I am a sucker for soft-tossing pitchers. I definitely would have made that post if Chico was called up.
