I've actually said that. I'd like to see him season a little bit more in the minors, maybe two to three months.
I don't see the point if he's performing this well.

Not saying I expect this to continue - Martis is fortunate to be up against a swing-happy team in the Marlins tonight - but if he's pitching well into the end of the season, he'd be worth keeping on the squad to give us the best chance of winning.

He's pitched 116 innings in the minors plus probably another dozen or so in the olympics. He's not going to be ready to pitch 200 innings next year.

Good enough. Lot of motion, lots of batters taking arms-extended swings. 9 Ks!

I was expecting the K's against the Marlins, but I was worried about the walks. I guess he's doing well enough so far.

Aren't you one of the ones who's always talking about small samples?

He performed well all year in AA and AAA. He's very consistent.

I'm not a fan of meteor rises through the minors. The way I see it, a player is either a stud like Gooden and a select few others or they need a couple of years to come into their own. I don't fall in love with minor leaguers like some of you do.

He doesn't necessarily have to pitch 200 innings.  Also, let's wait and see how many gets in before the end of this season.

Bullcrap performance by the offense tonight. Figures. When the offense is good, the pitching sucks. When the pitching is good, the offense is non-existent.

See my edited post.  I don't really expect THIS to continue, but if it did, or even if he's just solid, I'd rather see him than someone like Beachball or Hill.

Chances are he's more used to pitching a lot of innings than most of the pitchers his age; being from outside of the U.S. and all.

He probably won't get more than 2 more starts, maybe 3.

You don't have to say that twice to sell me on that point.

(Image removed from quote.)

I stand by my prediction of 5 runs.

He's been pitching professionally since 2004.

2004 - Dominican Summer League
2005 - Rookie ball
2006 - A/A+/AA
2007 - A+
2008 - AA/AAA/MLB

That was strike 3. Hanley got rewarded for getting completely fooled by that pitch.

No reason for that.  He threw 150 innings last year.  They could give him 165 in total, easily.  That'd prepare him for a full season next year.

Yeah, that totally caught the inside corner.  He only got 1st because he's Hanley Ramirez.

crappy throw.

A good throw would have had him easily.

I agree but there isn't enough time for him to get more than 3 starts at most. Unless you want him to pitch on 3 days rest.

What the freak??!!!  :bang:

This team is tanking on purpose. No doubt about it.  >:(

Martis freaked up but Guzman's throw was freaking disgusting.

Ugh.  freak you Carpenter.  Blame Martis all you want, but that's Guzman's fault.  Pitiful fielding by him tonight.  Throw it higher, you dumbfreak.
