They should let Bergmann pitch a couple more if necessary. Who else can we trust?

I've seen it a lot more often this season. Some teams have done it vs. Huff and even Markakis a couple of times.

The Nats are able to do that as well or better than almost anyone, because Zimmerman is as mobile as most SS's, and can turn the DP easily.

Should have challenged him a lot more.

yep, too cute. just throw your low 90s fastball down the middle against a hitter like Izturis.

Game over.  Biemel sucks.  Should have kept Bergey in.

Have the Nats been using it a lot? Besides for Howard?

I feel like the shift is in vogue at the moment, though I have no real evidence to support that.

Biemel's usually okay for an inning, and against lefties.

Why do we take Bergmann out to face a bunt?

O's don't do that much, so we import NL players to bunt for us.

I believe I've seen it against hitters other than Howard, but can't recall specifics.

Last year, BP did an article on the shift, specifically focusing on Zimmerman and how exceptional he is at turning the DP as if a SS.  Exceptional in that no other 3rd B is even close over the last 3 years.  He's got maybe 7-8 vs. 1 or 2 for the next guy down.

On the down side, one time a player (Rollins?) ran right past Zimm at 2nd and cruised into the unguarded 3rd base.   :?

Who's left?  Tavarez pitched 1 2/3 last night, I think that only leaves Wells?
