Fixed according to google's bug tracker, as of 11 hours ago.  Hopefully that means final builds will be uploaded soon.

The whole pint of nexus was fast updates (they're even advertising nexus 5 with lollipophttp://www.google.com/nexus/5/) but they're going to let the Motorola x get it first. I jumped ship from samsung because they didn't bother updating phones: maybe a Motorola next (or an iPhone if apple ever adopts widgits and let's you choose which app performs tasks)

Moto X is getting a preview build, you could have been running it on your 5 for weeks.  The final nexus build is coming out on the 12th according to sources.  The X is getting it quickly because it is basically a nexus 6.

I'm thinking of getting a second line purely to have an Android device.  I could add a line to my account for cheap and even though I have my main line as that fruit brand, I'm intrigued by the Nexus 6.

That article makes it sound like a rollout not a preview build

it looks like this is still in the soak test phase, with a limited number of Moto X users who opted-in getting early access, and it may also only be for the unlocked Pure Edition.

Good news, GV users! You can now stay in touch via MMS with Verizon Wireless users. Google Voice now supports MMS messaging with of all major carriers in the US and Canada.

Along with this announcement, we are also adding native MMS support for photo messaging to Google Voice. If you opt in to Google Voice in Hangouts, you can now attach photos to any SMS message and it will be delivered as a native MMS (instead of SMS with a link). Support for group messaging via MMS will be enabled in a future update.

I just got CyanogenMod installed and you guys are moving on.

BTW, I couldn't use my Gen 1 Nexus 7 before this change. It was laggy, slow when it wasn't frozen, and rebooted itself whenever it felt like it.

It took me three USB cables to find one that worked. That surprised me.

CyanogenMod will update to 5.0 code as well.  Might be a while until they have a stable release, but you could opt in to the nightlies.

I'll wait. I'm enjoying having a tablet that works.

Factory images for 5.0 are up.

I'd imagine OTA updates will begin to be pushed soon.

Profiles on 5.0 might be the biggest piece of garbage ever- you can't give the access to apps already on the phone? I wanted to set up the simplest profile ever- putting a couple of games on a home screen and a quick link to a couple of contacts- nope not possible to disable other apps or web access, apparently it's not designed for people who give their phones to kids, it's for people who share phones that's fine, I'll just delete it because it's not for me- oh wait, no icon or setting to obviously allow me to do that, maybe google's help section has a way- nope. I guess I have to have a setting that will make my phone functional for whoever finds it if I ever lose it?!

seriously, has anyone figured out how to disable (or at least password protect) the guest feature? edit figured it out, had to delete the profile I started from inside that profile?

So should I get a Galaxy S5, something else, or wait for something?

Heard a lot of good things about the S5 being one of the best.  If on Verizon the Motorola Turbo has long battery life

Too many articles about it to link, but be careful of ultra-cheap Android tablets this holiday season.  Lots of them are apparently full of security holes and/or backdoors.  Some apparently even pre-loaded with nastyware.
