We've never even been among the top half of teams offensively.  That's terrible.

Almost certainly won't be this year, either, but fortunately we don't "need" to be.

We do need to be better than almost dead-last though.  I think we'll manage, but again, medical staff joke.

I'll stick my neck out, and I'm SSS, but if you give me an outfield of Morse - Harper - Werth, and an infield with RZ and LaRoche, and our catching combo, I'd say the offense will be league average, at least, from the time those guys are all in the order to the end of the year.  That's allowing for below par production from the MIs.

Stop playing Tracy and Ankiel and start playing Moore.

"medical staff joke" might be the most redundant thing ever said on this forum

I have nothing to add, but I just want to associate myself with this joke and say that I'm somewhat pissed I didn't think of it.

Of course, but as this is the offensive thread, I didn't want to digress by bringing pitching into it.

My bad - I forgot all wnff threads stay rigidly on topic lest we feel plastic dinosaur fury.  :poke:

I think I like 640 as the over/under number for what the offense produces.  I'll take the under.

Cross posting from the GDT.

Quote from: Amanda Comak
LaRoche hurt himself diving for a ball last night. Said trainers told him it's a minor oblique injury. Davey said he'll prob be out 3-4 days

Guess we're looking at a July return for LaRoche.

Another oblique? Isn't that Derosa's malady?

Maybe Davey should try that 1B who hit all those home-runs at Syracuse.

I'm sure he will if it turns into a situation where he needs an every day 1B.  I'd love to see Moore get a shot this weekend, but with Kendrick and Worley both being righties, I'd expect Tracey to get those starts and to see a couple of lefty heavy lineups til we get to Sunday.

:az: over the thought of Harper joining a healthy Zimm's and morse in this lineup.  Hopefully we'll see it before the asb.

Tracy now batting .100/.217/.150 against righties- definitely the platoon split you want out of a first baseman

Not saying your wrong, that's just what I'm expecting to happen.

I don't know what's worse to watch - last night when we had guys all over the basepaths but could only push a handful of runs across, or prior nights when we'd have like 3 hits and 2 walks for the whole game but managed to scratch out 2 runs.

I kind of like today when we had lots of hits and lots of runs and we just knew we were going to win. :woop:

•The Pirates should be in position to trade Alex Presley or Jose Tabata once Starling Marte refines his strike zone judgement in Triple-A.  Presley will increase his value if he can prove that he is a solid leadoff option.  As for Tabata, he is under a club-friendly deal through 2016 with club options through 2019.

i'd love it if we could get our hands on tabata

They just signed Tabata to that deal. They aren't trading him.

And what would we give? Another outfield prospect? Lombo?

ELIAS: The Twins have nine hits in their last four games, the fewest for any team in a four-game stretch in modern major-league history.

In the meantime, Harper in Right, Moore in left at least until we can get another bat or Morse comes back

Zim and LaRoche back on Tuesday (thank God)

Nady isn't even good enough to play LF for my dad's old Knights of Columbus softball team.  Seriously, stick a fork in him because he is DONE.  Put Moore there, or even Lombo, or call up Teahen.
