and here we go...

weatherboy weather:

Quote
A vigorous storm system will push into the northeast this Friday, bringing bad weather to portions hit hard by Hurricane Sandy ...and setting the stage for interesting weather during Christmas week. A low pressure system will move well west from the ocean, bringing milder air and moderate to heavy rainfall into the Mid Atlantic and Northeast on Friday. Along the coast, around eastern New Jersey and especially southern Long Island, winds and rains could be especially strong/heavy. Precipitation will gradually come to an end late at night as cold air rushes in on the backside of the system. Some snow showers are possible throughout this area late Friday and Saturday as cold, breezy conditions arrive. The exact track and intensity of this storm system will help set-up the stage for next week's main action. While a somewhat weak system may bring light snow to portions of the northern Mid Atlantic area on Christmas Eve/Day, a more significant/substantial storm looks to impact the region just after Christmas. How things evolve after Friday's storm will help determine weather the Mid Atlantic and Northeast sees heavy snow, rain, or ice during the middle part of next week.

The GFS is currently showing a significant ice event for D.C./Va, with snow from Baltimore north, but it is still "way" to early to have any faith.
