Pretty strong top 5, but that's about it. Will be a lot weaker if Zeller and Shabazz Muhammad stay in school.

I doubt that zeller will go back for another year.

there is a good top 4 of Muhammad, Zeller, McAdoo and Noel, but after that it's sort of eh.

Watching Noel on Friday night did nothing to impress me. Alex Len absolutely dominated him and apart from a few flashy blocks he was invisible.

well flashy blocks are his game.  He is supposedly a great defender that is very raw offensively.

5 games into the season and already looking forward to lottery night.  Who cares, Wizards won't get a top pick unless there is a Kwame Brown in the draft.

Nene apparently out indefinitely with plantar fasciitis.  Same condition Mark Price had.  I remember when they traded for him and then he and Webber played like 5 minutes combined that year.  Then Howard had a great year, Miami signed him and the Bullets got a mulligan and then signed him for 100+ million (Werth-like contract).  Then Howard fell off soon after that and was booed every time he touched the ball.  Then they traded for Rod 'hot dog' Strickland, sent out Webber for Mitch Richmond.  Good job Unseld.  Then the Gilbert nonsense - couple of playoff appearances and then the finga gunz crap.

Kind of stream of consciousness blathering on patheticness of DC basketball - same crap, different year.

Mike Brown gone  ...

...and Mike D'Antoni to succeed him - four-year deal: http://espn.go.com/los-angeles/nba/story/_/id/8622773/mike-dantoni-hired-next-coach-los-angeles-lakers

[In between, a brief interregnum with the familiar ex-Bullets-assistant-and-much-else Bernie Bickerstaff]

I think Jabari Parker is going to be the next NBA superstar. He'll be in the 2014 draft class. He's pretty much a Carmelo Anthony clone.

I agree.  Parker looks like a beast in the making.  The 2014 draft looks like it will be a good one thanks to him, Julius Randle, the Harrison twins, and the almighty Andrew Wiggins.

This year's draft If I could choose anyone, it would be Cody Zeller.

More on jabari parker.

This sports illustrated cover article calls him the best high school prospect since LeBron and what makes him really interesting is that he is a hardcore mormon.  He is considering taking a 2 year break following his freshman year of high school to serve his mission.  That would be pretty unprecendented in that a) he would be the first black mormon in NBA history and b) a player of this magnitude has not made this kind of choice before.

I'd love to have him on the Wiz.

Will the Wizards win more games than the Caps this season?

If the Wizards win the lottery, I'd encourage Mr. Parker to take his two years right away.  Hopefully by then, Ernie Grunfeld will have been fired.  This is year 10 of the Grunfeld era.  We are worse off than we started.

Ted Leonsis doesn't believe in firing general managers, so get used to Grunfeld, no matter how bad the team is. All that matters is the dollar and appearing to be competitively building for a championship.

Watching Wizards-Bobcats right now (glutton for punishment, I know).  Jordan Crawford is so hard to watch.  Sometimes he jsut refuses to pass.  Okafor is back to looking like garbage.

We appear to be even less talented than the Bobcats.  Can't shoot and can't rebound.  At least they try on defense.

I think Webster is the only guard who understands the offensive gameplan. Crawford just doesn't give a freak. It is pretty frustrating to watch right now.

The Bobcats actually have some decent young players rather than overpaid vets that other teams were desperate to dump.

Will drop to 0-6 tonight.  Then have games against Dallas, Utah, Indiana, and Atlanta.  Most likely 4 losses.  Would put us at 0-10.  Then we get the Bobcats at home - maybe a win.  Then San Antonio, New York, and Portland. That finishes out November.  Could be 1-13 going into December.

Just got home to find out that we lost to the freaking bobcats...badly.  It really says something about your team when your leading scorer is trevor ariza and your #3 overall draft pick goes 1-11 from the field.

One nice thing about the Wizards radio broadcasts is colour man Glenn Consor - never fails to tell it like it is when Wizards are underperforming (which is, of course, often)...really laced into them for trying too many three-pointers rather than working plays. In earlier broadcasts he's lit in to them for lack of effort and the like.

Get these guys the Princeton offense?      The whole Ivy League couldn't do crap for these bums.

OC   Do you remember when Herzog did the PBP?     Is Consor the guy who has a sports show on Newchannel 8?   Thanks

I'm not sure if I feel bad for Wittman or not.  It's not like he was ever going to be interviewed for the Lakers job, but sticking him with this group of bums isn't entirely fair either.  Jannero Pargo and AJ Price is the best they could do at point guard?  They had no better ideas than paying Ariza and Okafor $10 mil each to provide veteran leadership and terrible performance on the court?

I don't feel bad for him- absent the collection of detritus,  he doesn't have a job.  How many years until Wall can bolt?
