Well that last one he missed he would not have even touched he was so far away from it, had he tried to use two hands.  Needed max reach.

I know, I know, there's always a justification for not using 2 hands, but I just don't like it. I always feel better about fielders who like to make the final outs sure things.

PUTIN POWER~!

Well, it's been a long day...or, really, a short night after that game, got up early to drive about an hour down the NJ Turnpike...then worry over a customer who is about to miss their deadline...and I'm GLAD that Putin is a Nats fan. Send that guy a curly-W cap.

In fact, this is all kind of washing away the association I've always made between the red hat with curly-W and Bob Short, the evil one.

Nope.  He looked like he got good wood on it, but that was a great outcome for all!  NATS!

Turned to MLB Network, showing NYY/Sox to hear the White Sox dinosaurs discussing the shut down.  Good times.

Atlanta has always been an under-achieving sports city.  Big city, big market, average teams for the most part.

Atlanta is in Georgia, and Putin likes to kick the heck out of Georgia.

Avatar with 1924 throw-back uniform reminds me of Nationals trivia found in Wrecking Crew of '33. Why was that uniform so plain? Roll ahead nine years and the Nationals/Senators/Griffmen wore the same uniform, with red and blue sox, and blue hats...without the 'W'

Why?

Because Clark Griffith was scrimping. He ordered the team -- probably one of his Robertson nephews -- to make sure that each uniform cost no more than $20. They had numbers by 1933, so they could not afford 'W's on the caps.

In case you're wondering, Moe Berg wore number 10 that year.

I am out of town but followed the game on Gameday. I came back to read comments on Drews 4 pitch inning. I was surprised that DJ didn't pitch him in the 8th.

Carp's call on the Flores HR was classic. The premature "SSSSS" on the see you later was hilarious.

Hawk Harrelson was just talking about Strasburg.

Quote Hawk: "He gone".

Hawk does not have much of a vocabulary left.

The only reason I can think of is that Drew's spot came up in the bottom of the inning.
